Hi Dr. Sean, I limit my dairy to organic heavy cream in my coffee (daily); 5 oz. A2 organic kefir (~2x per week); and a slice or two of cheddar/American cheese 1x per week. This seems to still allow me to function with minimal inflammation and slowly lose fat/improve body composition. I'm occasionally sprinting (need to do more) and plan eventually to have an MRI. What are your thoughts? Thank you for another great video!

Another great video dr. OMara! Regarding the milk craving - an interesting compound exists in milk called Casomorphin. As the "morphin" part of the name suggests it is really just like morphine and it is an mild opioid / opiate and it causes addiction and cravings. Scientists think that it is in milk for evolutionary purposes so the newborn gets "hooked" on milk and it likes and craves milk. So I don't think the sugar/lactose part of milk is addictive but the morphine one is probably more. :)

@terrirafiq9329 Год назад
Look up Natasha Campbell McBride GAPS diet. She talks at length about the impacts of both caseomorphin and gluteomorphin (in wheat) and their effects on the brain. Their addictive nature as well as how they are often both reactive in the same ways in the body. This is why she recommends ghee as the only dairy at first because it is the pure fat with all proteins removed - butter still has some protein residue before it's clarified into ghee.

So interesting about the caseomorphin being addictive, I was gluten and dairy free for 2 years and all of that time I craved milk, at the end of 2 years I was still craving milk so started drinking it again, I consumed a lot for a while but now only consume a little occasionally but have lots of cream not just in my coffee but in the sugar free deserts I make. Two years is a long time for an addiction to continue to be active isn’t it?

I too actually crave it, but can't really cook meat so have upped my intake of buttermilk, cottage cheese and yogurt. I'm of Scandinavian/Baltic States descent so have never had any trouble with dairy - yes, believe it or not, not everyone is lactose intolerant! I was diagnosed with lactose intolerance at age 6, now I am 47 years old. I have been zero carb carnivore for 11 months now- and during month 5 I tries to eat a little aged cheese! Big mistake! I ended up with breast cysts and cramps before my period that month. Since carnivore I didn’t have that. The next month I stayed away from aged cheeses, no cysts and no cramps! So I stay clear of dairy on carnivore! Too inflammatory! Great video Dr. O’Mara! ☺️👍🏻

I would prefer it fermented consumed before or after for microbial benefit and reduced carbs. Life is about choices though so for you it might be that important

Kefir. Yesterday I poured store bought kefir into a jar and left it out at room temperature to separate. I make my own kefir so I'm used to the process. In 24 hours. Nothing😂

Hello Sean OMara. Thank you for informing us in so many ways. I'm curious for this study did you drink store bought pasteurized milk or raw milk? I do believe that should be noted. Thank you.

I think you need kefir grains for that but make it simple. Just add store bought kefir to your milk and leave it outside for a day or two. Then that milk will become kefir.

Did you do this anecdotal MRI experiment to prove that fermented milk doesn't cause deep subcutaneous adipose tissue? Thanks. Btw, casomorphin is the reason milk (and more specifically cheeses) are so addictive (not lactose but this may be a reason for the extra deep subcutaneous adipose tissue?) Also, if an individual believes they should drink milk after they are weaned, for bovine milk it should only be grass-fed (not finished). ;)

Hey Dr. O’mara. I have a completely forage fed milk cow. I have 6 kids and we all consume the milk raw. I do ferment a lot of it but we drink quite a bit fresh. Should I consider only consuming all of it fermented or does the lactase is raw milk mitigate the bad effects of unfermented milk?

What can I use in place of milk as a fermented milk/creme substitute? Looking for an ok fermented version of creme with my coffee. I’m having stubborn fat hanging around after 2-3 months on no sugar, minimal carbs.

Plain kefir pares well with cold brew but not so well with hot brew. I drink my hot coffee black but often will drink a little kefir before and after.

@@DrSeanOMara Hey Dr Sean I’m so glad you responded. I’m watching your video on face photos showing your health right now! My husband says my face is getting leaner. I’m feeling better. I just drank some Kefir. You’re right I tried creme frache with hot coffee it didn’t taste that great or mix well but it’s better than nothing. I bought Green Valley lactose free Kefir. Is that one over the counter that you would recommend? If not can you please recommend a good store bought kefir? I’m doing everything you say- trying to sprint, eating saurkraut, fermented cheeses, kefir, creme frache, protein etc. The sprints vs. jogging is hard but I’m doing it. I listen to your videos everyday. Also going to the sauna almost everyday. Sat out in the sun at the pool for two hours. Low to no carb diet too! Thank you so much for being a voice in the wilderness. I just binge watch you all day long!! Thank you for responding!!

@seanomara What about just using cream? I avoid lactose any way but have enjoyed cream off & on as a carnivore. I am curious if something in dairy besides the lactose would increase visceral fat or if that would be okay?

I use a CGM once or twice a year. When I'm using it I can check that a simple glass of raw milk taken outside of meals may increase my blood glucose by 50mg/dl which is at least twice as high as a regular meal with meat and no carbs. No doubt that if you are used to drink a few glasses of milk every day it can greatly help you to put some fat on you, especially if you take them outside of meals.

I have bulked and gained 20lbs on carnivore over a year and a half. I added calories everywhere I could. Breakfast 6 eggs with 2 tablespoons of butter, 2 mugs of coffee each blended with 1 tablespoon of butter and 1 raw egg, after every meal when I felt I couldn't eat another bite I would bust out the mozzarella cheese and eat that. Its has a mild flavor and is easy to eat. Up to 250grams per day.
