Have Western sanctions finally worked? Is the long-term effect from sanctions already felt in Russia’s poorest communities? To find out, I traveled to the same Russian village I visited six months ago to see what exactly had happened to the people that claimed sanctions weren’t a big deal.

One note, "Dobryi Cola" at 20:46 is not "kinda like Cola", but literally the original Coca-Cola. The "Dobry" brand belonged to the Coca Cola Company and they simply began to release the original cola, fanta and sprite under the same brand. Even a bottle of "Dobry" Cola is literally a bottle of the original Fanta, and another cool fact is that it has become cheaper than the original Cola

@@i8Hardcore the original does still use Coca leaf extract. I believe most cola sodas do use coca leaf extracts still. In the US there’s a company that sells the extracted flavors to Coca Cola and the leftover extracted cocaine to a medical company, for refinement for use in surgeries and medicine… probably same thing in Russia в оригинале все еще используется экстракт листьев коки. Я считаю, что в большинстве газированных напитков колы все еще используются экстракты листьев коки. The people with social media do have access, but when you only see Anti-Russian and pro Ukrainian Western media for the past 12 months, certain facts go missing in the algorithm. You only see what appeals to your own biases, even if certain facts are removed and replaced by propaganda, which makes the person feel better, brmecaise the content is tailor made for them. This is why social media needs to be banned. It is creating a society that we won't even recognize in 10 years.

Winter fuel, especially diesel, is usually always a little more expensive in Russia because additional additives are added to it so that it does not lose its properties in severe frosts (conventional/summer diesel fuel can only be used up to -10). By the way, there on the video you can see that before the price of diesel fuel, a blue snowflake on the sign at the gas station, this just shows that they are pouring winter fuel and you can not be afraid that it will freeze.

Hi, I work in supply management department at one of the largest car repair centers in Russia (and no, not in Moscow, not even close). Situation with spare parts is steadily improving, the 100-300% price hike that we expirienced at the start of 2022 is long gone and prices are somewhat going down. There are still some deficit, especially for british or american models, but they were in a similiar situation even before the SMO. China actually produces many good quality analogues for spare parts, so it's also a plus. Of course a regular person might not be able to buy some parts made for rare brands and models, you need to have a contract with a distribution service to be able to do so. I specialize for trucks and other heavy cars. Volvo parts are usually not so hard to come by, actually. Something like Scania could be on more of an expensive side, but the main problem with that is always the waiting time for your order to arrive. So, the situation is manageble. Been through worse.

I'm from South Africa and I love Russia. I love Russia long time ago when I started understanding what "cold war" was. I realised that usa has deviled Russia in order to gain economic advantage by labelling Russia as an axis of evil and made sure that their media propagate this evil ideology so as to prevent potential investors not to go to Russia and thereafter lied that communism as an economic system is failing. All was a lie from this weasels. China never used slavery to create wealth for itself then used it to develop itself like these evils of the west has done. They created a wealth through slavery to create large wealth reserves to be able to fund their so called capitalist economy which is pseudo economy because it has promoted cheap labour and exploitation of hardworking citizens only to create a few financial elites which ultimately control and influence the government policies to work to their advantage in sustaining their exploitative businesses and they call it democracy where people elect the executives but technically it is not a democracy because citizen elect presidents for instance who have been identified, funded and publicised and advertised these businesses and ultimately these presidents are beholden to them and not the citizens. How dare then do we call such an arrangement a democracy. american citizens and eu's are the most stupid and gullible according to me. Those who are middle class scholars and aggressively promoting usa as a great country upholding it's american dream are actually doing so because this kind of a pseudo system is benefitting them as well, so they are happy with it.

I work in oil and gas in the southern United States. We are fortunate here in having relatively cheap gasoline (petrol) (about 2.80 to 3.00 USD per gallon in the city, maybe ten or twenty cents cheaper out in the country), but the diesel prices are insane. 5 to 6 USD per gallon easily in the last year, and they have been consistently that high. Gas prices have gone as high as 4 USD or more in the last year - a lot of fluctuations in naphtha crack margins, but diesel isn't going down, both in the US and internationally. I have one colleague with a diesel F-350 truck that has started carpooling with his wife to reduce his fuel expenditures. I don't purchase wood, but grocery prices have increased dramatically, to the point that I have altered a lot of my purchasing patterns. I used to infrequently eat out, but now I practically never do just because of the price. Due to avian flu outbreaks, chicken and eggs are much more expensive - a dozen eggs is between $3.75 and $4.00 for the 'inexpensive' eggs, and chicken is $3 to $4 per pound in bulk. I used to get more canned chicken, but the price has gone up between 50 and 75%, so I have started buying bulk chicken and freezing to reduce the price to something more reasonable. Salmon prices are also definitely up - $10 or $11 per lb. Beef prices are also way up - I bought some halal beef steak a month back for about $10 per lb. It's definitely impacting people. I volunteer at several local food banks, and the demand has been higher for food in the last year. Keep making the great content.

My parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc here and in western Europe grew up with not having many things "essential" for life today. Imagine what would happen to many if they didn't have TV, internet, or smartphones. Imagine if they had to walk or ride a bike instead of driving a luxury car. That's nothing. Gasoline/Benzin was 1.50-70, now is 1.20 - 30 euros. - Food prices have been on the increase since the war started, and haven't stopped yet. For comparison, 1 liter of Cow Milk is 1.80 - 2.00 Euro, and 1 loaf of bread is 0.80 - 1.00 Eur for the cheapest brand! 1kg of Chicken Breast is around 8 - 10 euros, and 1kg of Beef is around 12 euros for the cheapest cuts! - Firewood and coal - Firewood is currently around 75-100 euros per cubic meter and reached around 150-160euros in October / November. Russian Donbas coal was 400eur per ton, and now it may be 500+++ euros per ton. - A leffe beer which is 330ml, not the 500ml shown in the video is 1.65euros - Minimum salary in the country is 390.00 Euros and the minimum pension is around 200-250.00 Euros.🥲🥲🥲 "Every Regime will go to great lengths to protect itself if and when it is needed - in the meantime we can play democracy". - Amazing words from your friend Lars!

I'm from rural New Mexico in USA. For about that much hard wood ( kinda of ) it would cost about $400 USD. Soft pine, $150 - $200 USD. It was cheaper but because of the war gas prices went up, costing more to harvest it.

@@micheldeslandes4339 > Maidan was a great example of how to do it. Maidan is a great example of how double standards work in practice: the same event in the US is called "January 6 attempted coup", Wikipedia defines it as "January 6 United States Capitol attack", yet the Maidan is somehow a "revolution of conscience". One would need a single fact about that "conscience" to draw their own conscious conculsion on the matter devoid of propaganda: on the Sunday weekend day of February 23, 2014, a day after the democratically elected president had to flee the country saving his life from the hands of armed rioters chasing him, the newly established members of the Ukrainian Parliament had found nothing more pressing and important on their agenda than to repeal existing minority language laws, that were designed to protect the rights of the russian-speaking majority of the eastern part of the country to use their native language officially in all public administration matters. So much for Ukrainian self-determination that easily gets forgotten once the folks demanding it happen to live in the politically inconvenient regions. The events in Crimea had begun four days after that "conscious" move in Kiyv. > It never ceases to amaze me what a high price people will pay to protect their ego! Indeed! Like the egos of those who deprive Ukrainian 18+ male population from their natural right to decide for themselves and leave the country if they don't feel like fighting for the territory they might not get a chance to live on, and like those who are currently catching and sending those unfortunate souls into a war grinder for the political benefits of their self-proclaimed revolutionary leaders.

Great video. The size of the pension is interesting. My mother (Czech Republic)has 720 usd, but a litre of petrol here costs 1,80 usd, 1kW/hour 0,4 usd, 250g of butter costs 2,7 usd. There is not much German beer here because we make better :) . Recently it came out that a lot of companies didn't leave Russia, they just suspended production. Only a fool would voluntarily get rid of such a market. And a little pearl in the end. The Czech Republic has stopped taking Russian gas. It started taking the much more expensive Norwegian gas and people's boilers started clogging up because it is worse and has more hydrogen sulfide. ...... Unfortunately, the way I see it, Ukraine will take the worst of it. EU second, Russia third and the US best... Europe will take it for America. ....

Thanks for the update. Goods and services will always find a way to someone who wants to buy it. Be it through other countries or through alternative domestic products, and the prices will adjust accordingly as well on how much the people are willing to pay (or can afford to pay). The people in rural areas are all self-sufficient (more or less). The ones that really suffer are always the people who live from minimum wage to minimum wage and don't possess property.
