Why does the word "IMMIGRATION" invoke so much controversy? People get jittery when foreigners enter their countries in droves. In the US, it's no different. It's an election year, and immigration and border security consistently rank in the top 3 issues for American voters, according to most major polls.
Neck and neck in the polls with Donald Trump, President Joe Biden decided to up the ante this week. By executive order, President Biden announced that undocumented spouses of US citizens living in the US will be given legal status to stay in the country.
This policy is expected to directly impact 500,000 spouses. As sure as this policy will impact those undocumented spouses, it will also impact his campaign for a second term as POTUS.
This policy amends the previous requirements for spouses to leave the US if found to be undocumented and seek legal status from the embassy or consulate in their home country. So, will this policy be the gateway for more Jamaicans to get the green light to go for love and a green card to live in the US?
