#ThePriceIsRight #BobBarker #GameShows #ClassicTV #ComeOnDown
Here it comes, television's most exciting hour of fantastic prizes the fabulous sixty-minute Price is Right!
We are showcasing episodes not viewed in decades. Starting from Season 11 (1982), this is the first season when animal furs were no longer offered as prizes, supporting Bob’s advocacy of animal rights in memory of his wife Dorothy Jo.
To celebrate what would have been Bob Barker's 100th birthday, the channel is also featuring episodes from the debut season of The "New" Price Is Right in 1972.

I have ALWAYS loved the Price is Right New car music. It was and still is so exiting sounding. And the result of this game is why this is the reason this game was canned.

It was a horrible game. It requires athletic ability to play it. Sometimes the sport was darts. NO WAY could someone who wasn't a dart player win. The big problem I have with the Price is Right is that the games are not all equal in their difficulty. Some, like this one, required you to have profiency in a sport to even have a CHANCE at winning. Others were: "Here are two price tags. Pick the one that's the right price of the prize." Super simple.

@@SarahB1863 "Others were: "Here are two price tags. Pick the one that's the right price of the prize." Super simple." IOW, Double Prices, which, IINM, has lasted on TPIR ever since the show started, and is the show's stopgap when certain other games take too long (because all you have to do is choose the right price; none of this picking car price numbers, or lining up digits in other prices).

Could you imagine Nellie playing that game. She probably couldn't get a candle on the table. On the other hand, Annette was the final player for On The Nose and she won! I guess you might have well end this one in a positive note despite the game's many failures.

A little bit of trivia........1985 was the only year of the Aries'/Reliant's redesign that offered the 2.6-liter engine. It would be replaced by the Chrysler-built 2.5 for '86. I have always had a VERY special place in my heart for the Chrysler K-car. Sure, it was NEVER exactly the most beautiful vehicle in the world, but without this car, Chrysler as we know it would most certainly not exist today. Plus, the chassis of this humble little economy car was the basis for almost all of Chrysler's new cars in the 1980's. It spawned sedans, coupes, wagons, sports coupes, luxury cars, convertibles, even limousines. It was also the basis for the first minivan.

Family Feud was actually good when Richard Dawson was the host and Gene Wood was the announcer. I thought Ray Combs, Louie Anderson, Richard Karn, and John O'Hurley were decent hosts too, but I can't stand the Steve Harvey version. IMHO the show really jumped the shark when he took over the hosting duties. Maybe for baseball and basketball, it could have worked since there were winners when those sports were played... but the problem unfortunately is that not all contestants are good athletes, and that's what caused the retirement in part along with a low win rate. I think if you had more that were great athletes, we could have seen some more winners.
