This is another RC model of a real airplane, the Zivko Edge 540. It is a purpose built plane for aerobatic stunt flying. It has a roll rate of 420 degrees per second, that is more than one revolution per second! It is also very popular in the Red Bull Air Race World Series...

What Abbie was referring to as a somersault......Try this and watch what happens. Fly into Knife-Edge, with the plane flying in KE apply full throttle then immediately after add full right aileron plus down elevator (right stick completely in the corner of gimbal). These maneuvers will put you into a "Lumshavoc"! I'm pretty sure it means tumble in Russian. I absolutely love your channel and you two respect each other so much and have the greatest chemistry together filming your videos.

Flight stabilization is a wonderful addition to any plane (and novice pilots like me). I remember when almost nothing came with stabilization, wild times especially for new pilots.

Would love to see an update and comparison of this plane to the E-flite Extra 300. One big minus for the Extra 300 is it's only sold as a BNF now, I don't fly Spektrum and having to pay extra for a receiver I don't want makes me lean towards the Arrows Edge 540.

hey guys...just ordered this and waiting for it...heard a lot of issues about the assembly...especially the main wings...thanks for the heads up...the spinner yes good to know im an over tightener (bad habit)...love Hobbyzone...they have GREAT customer service for sure....they get back to you fast...used your link to order(of course)...ive moved up to bigger planes now...love my Arrows Trekker...and have a twin prop Avios bush mule...ASW28 glider...now its time for this plane ...i love my XK A430 edge ...now i will have a real edge..LOL. This looks just like a re badged 1300mm FMS Edge 540! I see they've re-vamped the power system and went with a wooden prop instead of the tri bladed plastic propeller, but the way the bolts hold the wings to the fuselage, the battery hatch, the reciever hatch.. everything looks the same! I'm really digging that orange!

Also don't be afraid of a stall. You can fly this thing up out of a hover. When in doubt, fly tail heavy and add throttle with a 3d plane.

I would like to have seen you try the stabilization system when out of control to see if it would regain level flight.

It's not quite giant but impressive all the same. Highly aerobatic I like. Putting the battery further forward may help a bit. I'd to see how that goes. But with big throws like that you may need a bit of the E word to smooth it out (mainly elevator looked a bit pitchy). Very good video in such bad light. Would like one myself they'd kill me on import fees.

I don't know if you have tried this but I have had some success, while waiting for replacement spinners, putting the spinner together with clear silicone. It is removable, I usually replace the glue in-between flight outings, and does not look bad. I would never use it on a heavy spinner or one that is out of balance. Great looking plane. (Note: when I was working on my lighter than air rating I attended a rally and a fellow aeronaut was flying a RC hot air balloon. If you ever find one I would love to see you fly it.) Best wishes.

Where is boat week at

I ended up with an Extra 300 with early electric technology. I had no idea what I was doing with it and crashed it. I rebuilt the plane and traded it for something else. I was not ready for a plane like that being it was my 3rd plane. Now if I had it, I would probably still crash it.

The wing bolts not lining up out of the box is fairly common you just have to work at it. Why would stabilization reduce the performance? I thought that stab just helps handle wing gusts?

why dont you wait a little longer when its darker to fly?

Performance planes like this need a tweak in how you think with a lipo alarm. You can set it a bit lower at around 3.3-3.5v for a higher load (lotsa vertical, fast passes) flight. Batts of 50c and less will drop voltage under load quicker by design and falsely trigger the alarm. They recover quick after throttling down for a moment and as you see the alarm resets after the first few times you hit high throttle and throttle down. Higher c rates and slightly lower trigger voltage can be helpful here. 30c batts will work but need more low throttle breaks in flight to keep surge voltage from dropping as fast.

People that fly these 3D planes generally do not want any form of stabilization . I certainly fly without but if I was moving up in my skill level I would activate it for help.

Hi, sorry to ask a question that you may well not remember. I have just bought one of these and noticed that you didn't like flying it in stabalised mode. My question is which stabilisation mode did you not like. It has 3 modes. First is full self levelling (like safe in eflite). Second is off. Third is wind correction (like as3x in eflite). I think you were using full self levelling in your video when you had gyro switched on. Can you confirm. If that is correct have you tried the as3x like mode, and did you find that OK. No problem if you can't remember. Andy in uk.

I’m kicking around the thought of posting some new “how to” vids on advanced flying (3d and a couple advanced 2d maneuvers). I have the sim vids “in the can” but they need some work. Holler if anything in a vid can be of use to ya gor this type of plane. For instance, when you went full throttle at high rates, expo would be a huge plus to ya! Smoothing it out relaxes you and makes flying less tense, aka, more fun(ner)!(Or use low rates for high speed, still with expo). If any video hints can be of use lemme know and I may try to put something out as instructional. Other folks have done this but it’s been a while and I’m trying to fill some gaps they left out of lessons.

How did you balance that with a 3300 mah battery mine is way nose heavy with that battery.

Any planes with "3d throws" benefits from like 50% expo. It is smooth, but easy to do small inputs.

Hmm I would disagree that a wooden prop is more sturdy. They're lighter, but can crack and snap under much less stress than a plastic prop. The wooden props are also more expensive and harder to come by. Unless you like the look of them, I'd go with plastic.

You like flying the edge but not the eflite extra 300?? Mind baffled.. even more so knowing you can tune the dual rates to make it fly how you want with the extra.. makes me wonder how trustworthy your judgements is 🤔 and you told me you don't like how the extra flies in a video of you flying the v1200, which you said you liked. But the v1200 would have similar flight characteristics of the edge and the extra.. do you think about these inconsistencies in your videos? Not a great look. Like watching most your vids but maybe think about throwing bs around cuz your viewers are going to believe anything you say, even if you don't know what your saying

It’s not a “stunt” plane . It’s an “aerobatic “ airplane . If you are gonna make vids of aircraft , at least sound like one who knows something about it . Airplanes don’t do stunts and tricks … those terms are for circus clowns and hookers. Other than that , great video. Nice flying and love the enthusiasm between you and the young lady running the camera.
