I went through Katrina in southern Louisiana at almost ten years old. My family mobile home was destroyed and we had to restart, but luckily all of us (cousins, aunts, uncles, etc) went to my grandparents home who was built on solid ground and had generators (we were able to keep up with news and keep our food good). Majority of my parish and surrounding were out of power for WEEKS. I’m almost 28 now, wouldn’t wish that on anybody. Sending good vibes to Florida and if you are already stuck where you are, make you choices wisely, as if your life depends on it❤🫡 edit: fight for your pets if you can! They don’t know what’s happening. 🐱 🐶
@@DorcasLandry I hope every one in Helen’s path is okay heart 💜 they need to listen to officials. It’s worrying since some counties have never experienced something like this so they don’t have the built in instinct on how to be prepared for something like this 😔

Motel 6 took 20parrots one room 37 cats another 6 great danes another...4 pot belly pigs&a pony another room .wouldn't let anyone pay during Hugo passing! Wonderful people! RV full of evacuation pets multiple families they refused our offers to pay!
Overrated - CNN embellishes and exaggerates everything for cheesy ratings. I'm in Cedar Key on the Gulf shoreline and it's trickling rain with almost no wind Care to take me on Tough Guy and wsee who's stupid?? I'm waiting for a reply loser
KEEP THE PETS SAFE! If you see any outside, please save them! Don't video tape them cuz they look silly walking in the wind! I've seen those awful videos & they aren't funny!
For people that did not leave writing your name and DOB on your body is no joke. I live in New Orleans and stayed for Katrina. What you are getting is 5 times worst. Think of your family, if you have to go to your attic take a hammer or axe and some water with you. Praying for you guys.
These people so stubborn. I’m a police officer here in Abaco, Bahamas and during Dorian, we pleaded for persons to evacuate and they failed. Katrina & Dorian I will never forget as long as I live. I never want anybody to go through what we both been through. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
@@DMbriggs601 Bingo. If you make minimum wage, don't have a car and are taking care of an elderly relative, it's not exactly like you can hop on a plane and hang out in your vacation home in Nantucket!
@dontbanmebrodontbanme5403 Even if you don't have much. There is still places in your city where you could go for free. They have food, water and everything for you.
I'm in the middle of it right now it isn't as bad as they are making it seem. The reporters are always sent out to what they predict to be the worst area and they will sit there and wait for the heaviest rains and winds before they start broadcasting live. Been dealing with these storms for over 30 years took many many direct hits always in a mobile home. Never an issue. Only real ranger is if your right on the coast or a tornado touched down within half a mile of you. Florida homes are not built like the rest of the country. Our homes are made to handle 150+ mph winds.
That area by the gulf coast is mostly all wilderness; I can’t think of any coastal towns , Perry n cross city are the biggest town, but they’re over 50 miles from coast; if I remember correctly that area is 95%swamps n forests!❤. Trees n animals are at more risk❤
@@edeymann "over 50 miles" is nothing for this storm. Did you see how wide it is? It's reaching more than 100 miles inland. I just heard it was upgraded to a category 4
@@lilmiss222 I mean storm surge. That’s a wall of water than can go inland up to like ten miles! That should not get any towns ; it’s all wilderness n swamp! If anyone’s living there they gotta evacuate for sure
I've been in a hurricane and rode it out, but it was only a cat 2. For 10 hours I was scared to death, with the weather radio saying there were tornadoes all around me and the pecan trees in my yard were breaking up on my roof. Anyone who does not evacuate is crazy. And a cat 4? You're going to die!
I'm from New Orleans I live there my entire life up until Katrina hit an I've never lived there since so take it from me evacuation is always best..my heart an Prayers are with everyone in the path of this storm..trust me when I say I know exactly what it feels like to be facing these powerful storms..Material can be replaced but life can't!
I looked it up and it is the only bridge out of Matlacha and West Island, Florida. The name of the bridge is on the video and an educated person would of looked this up before putting people down. "Real talk."
@@Mr.White10-65 what is your point. They should have left earlier. Or stay put until after the storm. If something happens you are putting first responders in danger because of your bad decisions.
I'm about 150 miles away from the eye and the gust was so strong I could barely open my car door. My car is being shaken by gusts. Tallahassee please, please leave. I've been through about 5 hurricanes, this is bad. Get out.
not bad if it hits as a category 2 or lower or as long as ur not in the center of the storm you should be good. a little wind and rain but no major flooding.
I have been through a super cyclone ( cat 5 hurricane equivalent) with max wind speeds of 165 mph which hit my city of Kolkata, India during the first COVID lockdown in Fall 2020. It was devastating in how much damage it did to anything not made of concrete. Trees that were so old they were local landmarks were uprooted, anyone on roads even in trucks or cars were lucky if they didn't have a tree fall/ flying debris hit or crush their cars. These storms pack a mean punch and those who don't respect them enough to shelter far inland, in a safe structure, pay dearly with property and life.. May god bless all in the way of this present one.
Lord please have Mercy in every area of this Storm. Forgive yourself and forgive others and ask God to forgive you! Ask Jesus to come into your heart and fill you with the Holy Ghost, lead and guide you into the truth. Help me to desire you more than anything in this world. Read your Bible and pray ask him to lead you to a Word church where you can learn truth about Jesus Christ and his life he want you to live Believe trust and obey his word! You must be Born Again and filled with the Holy Ghost! 🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️
When the US government funds MISCHIEF in the land of Jesus, God and Jesus will throw his wrath on that nation. Karma time. And just because tgey have power and money they think they can get away from the wrath of God. This is wrath of children's cry in Gaza, and Lebanon. Worse than what happened in Ohio.
Holy crap. I had to endure two hurricanes throughout my life( Katrina and the one that hit NJ, my home state( cant remember the name for that one)). Politics out the window, this is very scary to see. What worries me more is that i think they had a previous hurricane occur literally just recently before this one.
@kierra_mist Kierra, where are you. I hope you have water and supply's. Do you have a radio. Its going to be a rough night, praying for you . I'm in Wisconsin and I've been watching this and watching all day. Just because we're not near or in the storm, doesn't mean we don't care and worry about everyone in the storm. We do care.
I’m on the Gulf Coast of Florida right now. CNN is overly exaggerating. At least they are not playing the scary background music like the weather channel does.😂
@@heidizuri we've gotten to the point that if CNN has coverage on a live hurricane people will say it's fake. Trumpism has legitimately wrecked people's brains.
As I'm sitting in my living room on the Gulf coast of Florida right in the middle of a huge storm band from the hurricane and all we are getting is about as bad as a normal thunderstorm we would get almost any other time of the year.
You know something America is one of the only places that has Hurricanes, Tornadoes, Volcanoes, Earthquakes, Tsunamis, floods and fires, and so much more. Many of these happen annually. You’d think America would be the masters of disaster preparedness. You would think. They have a place called Tornado ally! Lol God loves America.
My hometown of Madison is directly in the path behind Tallahassee. Haven't been there in years but I doubt there is going to be much of it left after this.
This will create a open line of communication worldwide that is needed vs writing your name and birthday on your arm. This is where the government need to pay for room and board at a 5 Diamond resort for the residents of the states in the path of severe weather and rebuilding.
The areas they are showing always flood from a tropical system or a bad thunderstorm. 😂😂😂 unsurvivable what a joke. CNN keeping the exaggeration alive and well. 😂😂 I’m sure I will be going for a morning jog here on the beach after the little wind storm.
I lived on Long Island for eleven and a half years. It can start snowing in October and for sure November all the way into March and even April. December thru February will be hardest hit. Up to 3 feet. Fun digging out when the snow is pushed up to your door and you can't get out. Nope. I will stay in Florida.
@@Smwilll6100 😂 you said eleven years that was a long time ago, for the last 3 years it snowed like two times for the year in queens and last year it snowed once and it was like one inch and that was it. I was barbecuing last November and my garden had sweet peppers 🌶️. The environment is changing
