@@AllAccessConstruction Thanks for the reply, but I can't see a "tee" footing here. There is some un-structural spill out of concrete at the slope side. I guess you don't get the freeze/thaw we experience. It must be incredible sandy soil, lucky. Would like to see a follow-up in a couple of years, sincerely; I'm not saying that to be a d&%$, just curious. Stay safe.

Was this wall permitted? Rebar in ground contact, gonna rust out fairly soon. The footer does not seem to be wide enough. Built a six foot high wall 100 foot long, footer was 7 feet wide and 2 foot thick, with the set back 5'-10" from front of footer.

Yea way to much Excavation and backfill.. Geo tech guy will dam near have to live on the site, lots of geogrid and lots of compaction with sheep foot.. We will have to go crazy with the footing.. Always find it very interesting to see how things are built in other places, building codes, etc... - Very nice work, particularly on the footing cages. For a job like this, we would normally compact sub-base and pour the footer first (with a keyway and rebar sticking up to go into second pour) and normally require deadmans every X feet of length (depending on height and soil reports). Always a dead man or back set anchor to stop the wall from breaking and flopping over in the event of frost heaves, landslide, or other seismic considerations. I can see the base soil is clay, and I'm assuming the frost heaves are not an issue in your area. Very cool content !!!! Nice work.

160’ is long for a monolithic pour. Consider an expansion joint every 40’ or so. Thermal expansion and contraction will actually show this wall moving on the ends, although this may be acceptable for a landscape wall such as this.
@AllAccessConstruction
@AllAccessConstruction 3 месяца назад
Been doing over 20 years never put joints in any of my walls nothing has moved. Some high as 9 feet.. Also, This is not considered a landscape wall.. It's holding that whole Hillside up..

@patrickclark9222 3 месяца назад
@@AllAccessConstruction to me, ‘landscape’ or ’site’ retaining walls are just not supporting or tied to a structure or building. I have seen long walls, with no expansion joints move 2-3” as they expand and contract. Joints may or not be needed depending upon how the wall is used.

Why is the footer on the downhill side? Isn't the pressure of the earth supposed to hold it down? Or was that not really an issue for this, or maybe it is just the weight of the wall itself and the footing makes a fulcrum point farther out that is difficult to push against? Any idea what the engineer was thinking?
@AllAccessConstruction
@AllAccessConstruction 5 месяцев назад
As with any structural engineer it's no way to tell what there thinking 😂😂😂.. But it had to pass the city, county and state because the property was near a state creek.. Also, they build withstand 7.0 earthquakes...

Wrong and Wrong. Footing can be either side and overlaps are better staggered, but not necessary. Oh, and I've been building engineer designed retaining walls for 40yrs.
@talalzahid84
@talalzahid84 2 года назад
@@bernardrobinson837 one can make the footing on the top in the air as well. But the point here is to build optimum strength. Max strength can be achieved by making the footing towards the higher ground. because weight of the soil on the footing won't let the wall fall. It would be better if one makes counterfort retaining wall.
