See You Soon - It's time to take a bit of time off rather than trying to maintain a sort of 'semi-working' that I've been doing before. I need some time away from the PC and to spend with family so I'm heading back to the UK for a while. Content will return later this month, thank you for all the support so far.

Hey Alex, your situation really speaks to me on many levels. This break is definitely the right decision. It's better to take a step back, receive the love that you deserve from your family and friends in the UK and find ways to focus on what and who you love, and of course, yourself! I personally had to go through the same thing twice in the past 2-3 years. I'm currently on the verge of getting back to work after a month break. I really wish you all the best. Micromanage your life instead of "battleplaning" it ! ;-) Take care and safe travels! Canada will miss you!

Hi Alex, I’ve been keeping up with your channel for a long time now. I was 16 when I found your videos, and now I’m 23, working on my senior thesis in history and graduating from university in a month. Your content has been a constant source of comfort in my life for a long time. I feel this so much. While in some circles I see the term "mental health" now being used way too liberally, making me think "do you even know what you're actually talking about?", it is so good to see Alex talk about this more freely. It is clear he is serious about it, that it's not a cry for attention in any way, and that by talking about it he is actually already fighting his demons that tell him it's his fault, that he should be ashamed of it and that he should deal with it quietly on his own.

I’ve been away in London with my girlfriend for Easter and just saw this. I’m all with you Alex - recuperate and just have some ‘you time’ before you come back stronger than ever! Good luck! I work as a mental health nurse and a lot of people like aromatherapy while with us, lavender is the favorite scent. Also what works for me was getting coloring books and color by numbers. There is something satisfactory about filling in those boxes. But I'm glad you are taking this seriously.

Until then, @Alex The Rambler, see you when you return! Safe travels to the UK and back. I would suggest trying to go for a run to add on top of your walks with the dog. The dopamine from running works wonders, and gradually, it builds up. It won't be some magic I can do miles my first time if you can make it a quarter, half, or a mile or I guess for you mate 1.6KM or less. Alternate between walking and running you will gradually build up an endurance for it.

Massively agree with this. Walks are great but regular, extended intense cardiovascular exercise did huge, huge wonders for my own mental health when I was struggling. I understand that not everybody is the same and it won't be the first time anybody here is hearing this but I would still highly encourage everyone to try it. This is coming from someone that hates running and never got on with it. In the end, I tried regularly attending five-a-side football with some friends and it was brilliant. In a world of simulacra and depersonalised, lonesome gyms - getting out there in the real world and playing sport with real people whilst regulating my brain's production of endorphins and dopamine was such a great ally in my struggle with my mental health. It also made it easier to stay committed when there's a social cost to not attending.

I pushed myself to the point my mind just snapped at work and then covid hit. It takes time, to heal and to grow. Then you can root out those little things that created this darkness, for me it was therapy that helped me and i had a lot of support from my partner. Remember that it will get better, there will be good days and bad days. Every day you keep going is a win and it will get better, just remember to paraphrase Bill & Ted being excellent to each other means you need to be excellent to Alex to.
