Hello! I just hatched 5 new baby chicks for the first time ever. 4 Hens and 1 rooster. My Grandson came over and spent the night so he could watch them hatch. It was so fun. I have a green house I built last year. I like to read my Bible in my green house. It's so serene and peaceful. God bless you and your family ❤️✝️

Everything about you radiates God's love and sunshine!! Your personality, laugh, and sunny attitude are infectious!!! I do have 11 hens and a rooster, but being colder and darker during Winter, their production has slacked off. I give most of my eggs to my elderly Dad, to make sure he gets good nutrition. Eggs from commercial producers are running nearly $8 per dozen for extra large, in my area, IF you can find them. Last year, I heard someone say that they could foresee eggs getting to $1 per egg, IF you can find them. I guess time will tell. Cant wait to see what your garden plans are, and how it all comes together. You are a delight!! You are loved and prayed for, Sweetie!!!! 😊

Hi Heather…My oh my, this is the BEST I’ve seen you since your horrific accident. Sooooo happy to see you healing well!!! You mentioned growing beets. Re: beets: I grew up in upstate New York and my mom used to get beet greens in the store. They had little beets on the end and the beets were approx. 1” diameter (give or take) and she would cook them like she cooked fresh spinach…just boil them (beats and greens) and serve them with butter and salt. They were DELICIOUS…even my 5 year old ate them. Re butter: I live in the CA Bay Area and 1 lb. of butter ranges from $3.98-5.98. Two lbs. range from $7.86-11.12. 1 dozen eggs range from $5.13-9.43. 1 1/2 dozen from $7.54-11.48. OUTRAGEOUS!!! Here’s a little suggestion: Jason from Cog Hill Farms (RU-vid) has an AWESOME way he grows his fruit trees and berries. Check him out. Love & prayers from WET California!!! 💕🙏🏻💕

I have really gotten into the golden beets, they are so good. Also, I don’t, but maybe you can save and get a harvest right freeze dryer. It’s another way to preserve. I learned about them from Living Tradition Homestead, there good people, Christian faith and very helpful. Just a suggestion for you that might help you with persevering your harvest, and it won’t require a lot of standing. Also Acre Homestead does a lot of preserving with hers, and found out it’s better for her herbs and makes her own garlic and onion powder. Just a thought for you since your getting back into gardening this year. Just remember slow and steady wins the race!

Honey, you don't need wood for growing potatoes. Put them in rows and till between them and make sure you pile the dirt around them and keep them covered with dirt. Use potatoes you have that get eyes on them. That is all potatoe starts are. Main thing to remember is keep the dirt piled around them once the plant starts coming up and you directly plant the potatoe with the eyes up directly into the ground. KY here.
@TheKneadyHomesteader
@TheKneadyHomesteader Год назад

Regarding potatoes: if you have the time, look up Ruth Stout and how she grew potatoes using straw. Easiest, least labor-intensive method I’ve ever heard of. I have not done it but plan to this year. No back breaking digging or tilling for me with my physical limitations; might be helpful for you, too. I’m in central KY and have not bought butter or egg lately so I don’t know what they are going for here. I’m “afraid” to look… 🐔🐓🥚

Makes me think Spring! Although with my age and physical condition, I'm enjoying the rest from the garden. Digging in dirt is good for my soul so as long as I can be upright, there's a garden 🙂 We made a DIY greenhouse with cattle panels and 12mil greenhouse plastic a few years ago. It really helps. Our Spring and Fall seasons have been changing for around 5 years. Our Spring growing has shortened and last frost is later here in western PA, zone 5. They changed us on the map to zone 6 but that can't be right. I know I've lost days for growing. Prices change. Average price for regular that used to be 69 cents a doz. at Aldi are around $3.89. We have chickens so I don't usually pay attention and butter is about the same price. A garden tour video at some point would be fun! Look up the medicinal uses for catnip. It is a relaxing, calming herb. It can be used as a tea.

My kids prefer non pickled and sauteed in butter to prepare. The growing season is only about 60 days for beets so I succession plant. They can be started in small peat pots early and transplanted. I'm able to harvest 3 plantings here in Minnesota. They are also cold tolerant. It is so nice to see you again! ❤

Northern NY on the Canadian Border (top of they state). Butter is $4.50 store brand and $5.50 name brand, per pound. Eggs are between $5-$8/dozen, depending on size and brand. Eggs have increased in price by 60%. It’s cRazY! I grow potatoes in grow bags. I got them on Amazon as well.

I grew up on pickled beets! They are so good! I even like them plain in a salad.

Pickled beets are great and easy. I often use as an added vegetable to a meal. Also serve for holiday meals. They add bright color to the meal

I love the comment question! I am in Seattle Washington eggs are about $12 for a 60 count and butter is about $4-5 for 1 pound luckily there hasn't been a shortage in my part of town and no quantity limits like back in the pdays! What a blessing! Thank you for the garden inspiration!! 💖

Love seeing you and when watching you I feel like your my neighbor next door. I live in Michigan outside of Detroit in the metro area. Pick a store the price of eggs are from $3.79 to $5.09 a dozen. If you want 6 eggs in a carton only they are $2.99.The eggs look like medium, however the carton reads large eggs. Butter (Land of Lakes) $6.49. Last year in April there was a sale on butter for $1.97 with no limit. I got 30 pounds and this morning after your video I check to see how much I had left only (16 pounds). Now when the stores have a sale its around $3.49 a pound with limits. Bless you keep coming with videos.
