Guys the easiest way to save tomato seeds is to squeeze them on a paper towel dry in sun plant the paper in about half inch of dirt when they are the size you want to plant pull them out and plant!! No shock the towel holds the roots together!! I have been doing it for 30 years here in KY!!!!
Great vlog. Love saving seeding. My Italian aunt gave me seeds from Italy years ago. I save the seeds every year. She passed away in April so I now call the beans MARGHERITA BEANS in her honor. She is the last of my lovely elders to go to to learn their old school knowledge about gardening and life. I miss them all.
Stacy, I tried your method of using the slices...just kept them in the greenhouse over winter....in early January I had more tomatoes seedlings than I knew what to do with! Thanks!
YOU GUYS ARE SO INFORMATIVE THAT THE STRANGE NEW INFO WAYS HAVE TO BE WATCHED OVER AND OVER AGAIN! FUN TO SEE STACY'S WHOLESOME SMILE . . . STACY HAS A CONTAGIOUS SMILE-PRAISE GOD! XOXO
Stacey! Wonderful interview, I love listening and learning from both u great women! I have dearly missed seeing and learning from u Stacey! Please do more RU-vid 😊!
Okay 👌 So I saved this informative video about saving seeds. I saved it and I’m going to download it. Thank y’all for making this very important video on how to properly save seeds. I have a new refreshed frame of mind set this morning. I am going to stop feeling sorry for myself. That’s high on my list of repairing my broken back and the damaged disk. Maybe with a fresh hopeful mindset I can get some of Marylouise back! I want to come back. Truly I do. This pain I have been in for almost 2 years has not just damaged my body but it had begun to damage my spirit. Yesterday was very helpful and enlightening to me. My God’s brightness heal my Soul and everyone else’s that read my words. 🙏🏼 ♥️😊♥️ Bless you all. 🙏🏼 Forever and Always
@Marylouise - You are not alone my dear friend. I now have spinal issues due to a woman rear ending me and my husband years ago. I have had to have two surgeries due to this and has left me with tremendous pain and spasms. I have good days and bad days and then some days I don't think I can continue. Only through prayer and the strength of the Most High do I make it and continue forward. Sometimes I ask Him to carry me till I regain my strength and Spirit to move forward. I am trying to start growing my own food and take my health back into my own hands. With the pain I suffer makes it difficult and is easy to lose lack of motivation. I have to pray and push through these times. I repeat, This to shall pass, and No weapon formed against me shall prosper, HaSatan came to steal, kill, and destroy, but our Messiah came to give LIFE and more ABUNDANTLY, Greater is He that is in me than he that is in this world. It helps a lot when I do this. I will pray for you my dear friend! Be Blessed
Doug & Stacy: I'd like to see a video of you saving your seeds from harvest to storage of several seed types. Then maybe in the spring, a part 2 showing the seeds after winter storage and you planting them and see them sprouting. Good info on this video.
I heard a lot of tips that I didn't know. I had never fermented my tomatoes seeds, I usually dry them out before storing so I will try the fermented tip. Thank you both! This was a great "nugget" video 😊
I never fermented mine, either, and won't. It's extra work that isn"t necessary, making it more difficult and time consuming than need be. Now is NOT the time to be making it harder for newby seed savers to learn a HARDER way. My seeds always grow, without fail, so I see no benefit to fermenting.
I just started saving some seeds from my beans, perfect information. I was able to save peach pits in a vacuum sealed jar in the fridge for 9 months and was able to sprout one! I have a 5" peach tree in an Oregon home!
Hey lovely people, thank you so much for this video! I did save the paprika-seeds some years ago, planted those this summer, thinking they would probably be too old to do anything. But to my surprise they virtually ALL germinated and now they are flowering like crazy! (indoors, that is; outside it's way too cool already) So I hope some give us paprika... And thanks to your little lesson on saving seeds, I will save some seeds from next season's tomatoes we like best. Of course we will first order some packages with heirloom seeds from our country (The Netherlands) so we can taste them first. Taste everything first, and keep the good stuff ;) May God bless you. with love, Diana
Very cool !! 😎👍💯 Shannie Mckay Is one smart gal !! She really knows her stuff. Awesome I make simple light picture frames, and staple screen door on them..then spread my seeds on the screen...it works great.
Thank you for sharing this information, much appreciated! Love watching you guys! May you, always know that you are appreciated so much!!!! You are a treasure! Moira From England. 👏👏👏👏👍♥😊🍎🍉🍠🌶🌽😘🙌
Loved this video! Great information. I always learn so much from you, so thank you for sharing your knowledge... and you are so plesent to watch. Blessings
thanks for this great video, a lot of us who couldnt be there, thank you for these tips...gods is such a great artist, those seed colors and patterns just gorgeous...how lovly to look at a glass jar of them...
Wow I learned something new about saving seeds. I always save my seeds and found the tomatoes seeds tricky because of the gel around the seed. Now I know to let them sit out a couple days to ferment. Thanks for the great video!
Not everybody growes tomatoes. I grow vegtables because I cannot eat nightshades. So, if I want a variety do gardening. But, thanks for the seed harvesting tips.
Hey Doug and Stacy 🤗 Thanks for this seeds saving video.. answer some of my questions.. great job ladies.. You look great Stacy 😃 Take care 🥰 Blessing 👩🌾

Love and prayers! Loved the video rebooted my old brain on certain seed saving ways. Love rare seeds I get their catalog and use their seeds for years. Thanks and love!
Hi there. Been watching your blog's for a few months now, just gotta ask, "when do you find time for sleep. YOUR always on the go, canning, gardening, pre preping for other projects. I just spent the last 2 months canning from my garden, . Love the farmers market your at. The huge pile of veggies behind you. Spectacular.
Very informative. I have been very confused about seed saving. Put in the fridge-don't put in the fridge because it's humid. Use mylar bags or vacuum seal-don't use mylar bags or vacuum seal as seeds need o2...and the list goes on.
I have seen another man on you tube, he cut the tomato and just rubbed on a paper towel. He did your type also. Thanks for sharing. I have purchased vine tomatoes at aldies and left on the counter and when I used them, had tomato plants growing in them.
One thing is if you store seeds under your house make sure your container is rat and mouse Prove you can use a glass jar with a tin Lid then put metal around the whole thing most rats and mouse won't eat it because the metal hurts their teeth Thanks for the video i was interesting in your Little tomatoes showing in the back ground on a string in a pot and how you did it that way? Great video gal's thankyou so much.
This was the first year that I saved seeds from our garden. I'm looking forward to planting them in Spring and saving more next year. This was a very informative video!
Nice to learn something new. I save both heirloom perennial flower seeds and non-GMO vegetable seeds. Learned that I was doing the tomato seeds wrong, did not know about the fermentation needed. I keep my saved seeds in an unheated detached garage, which beats taking up space in the refrigerator. The basement is a constant 60 F year round, so that doesn't fit the bill. My wife and I both look forward to your channel posting another video - she usually knows before I do!
Stratification hm thanks didnt know that, Just like forcing a bulb to bloom. I saved some butternut squash seeds but havent put them in the freezer. So helpful.
Very good video! I like the comment “we need to keep the seeds in the hands of the people”. This is so true in that India has to buy their seed from Monsanto. It’s awful to have to depend on large companies and/ or government for your food.
