Amazing,i'd feel more privileged to have one of these gentle giants walk beside me because it wants to than to ride on one because it has to.I don't know what can be thrilling about sitting on an animal that has literally had the life beaten out of them

Yes, people, it as well makes us feel better, to see them , as not a toy thing. Consider this.. mahouts in Laos, were aware that the 7 females, that we visited, over 2 days, had often interacted, within a style. Mahouts, talk with words, leg gestures, singing (song), and sets of shared words. So, while riding atop, my mahout, on the ele, sang as we walked down hill to the river. Iharmonized, and , once in the river, we walk to the sandbar, the mahout, gets of and has me set upon her neck. Three of us walked and sang, while I , was in that space. Next morning at 7 am, we all were in the river , with nylon scrub brushes, to serve , or scratch their itch. An hour later, we 12 people and seven ladies, walk up to eat and shuck corn. I eat raw corn, so I started shucking to eat, and fed the young boy, which let the mama eat , more. So, their are temporary relations. Harvesting lumber, for the park mill, is simple exercise, with healthy mammals. We do it with people , too. This is 1 ,change your life experience. #2 is a Thai parade at a football stadium in ele capital Sibouriy(sp?) in early feb. #3 is a 1924 film by the falang, guys who did the original, King Kong. This film is called ‘CHANG’. 🤔

it's horrible how elephants are treated especially Asian elephants. African elephants are poached and that's a horrible thing but they're dead. Still not any better. Asian elephants have to spend their life in servitude and be a slave stolen from their family as a baby beaten into condition to serve. Elephants weren't put on this Earth to ride some sorry lazy human around or to be their slave.

I hate going to the zoo. We have no rights to put all these animals in small tight places for our own entertainment. They don't deserve to be in prison

What about humans riding horses, and camels? Don't horses and camels wish to roam free, also? I see people riding elephants at Patara Elephant Farm in Thailand, and then the human, sitting on them in a stream, as they lie down, washing the elephants alongside their mahouts. The elephants look to be in a state of bliss. I would agree that those nasty looking wooden benches are NOT GOOD for an elephants back, but simply riding an elephant with a rug or a towel between the person and the elephants seems to be fine? If you look at the two Temple Elephants at the Mayapur Temple in India, who are taken care of well, Hrimati Dasi says that an elephant can carry 600 pounds safely, and she treats her two Temple Elephants with love. In Nepal, where government elephants are used on anti-poaching patrols in the hilly forests where tiger and rhino hide in the brush, elephants keep the rangers safe. Carol Buckley has done wonderful work, outfitting Nepal government elephant corrals with 10,000 volt, solar powered electric fences, so elephants do NOT HAVE TO BE CHAINED, and can roam free in a corral when not doing work with/for people. In an African country they have corralled an 18 Km fence with this wire, but put only, just one, electric wire, at about 7 feet high, so buffalo and other game can pass under, to protect the human crops from elephants. For wild, African, elephants, that use their tusks (which do not conduct electricity), to destroy the electric wire, they dart them, cut off half of their tusks, careful not to destroy the nerve, so they can't destroy the wire. I love to watch videos at Elephant Nature Park, and wish I could go there. But I also realize that the world is a practical place. Here in the USA, dogs are used as working animals, for care and love, and to pull dog sleds at times. Tens of millions of homeless dogs are killed at shelters every year, because people don't want them. Life is a complicated affair, with a lot of gray areas, and very little black and white issues? Rog.

Rogernamvet : Thank you for sharing so much information, Rogernamvet. I wish people had to exchange places with animals doe a week or so, and experience their life. Perhaps they might understand and become more compassionate.I think this video certainly demonstrates the emotional and intelligent elephant family or group life quite well. Wonder how close the photographer was to the herd. Great work all, thanks. And a special thank you to Rogernamvet!

If you think Indian temple elephants are treated with love then you should watch a movie called "Gods in Shackles". All captive tame elephants are broken spirits. Stolen from their mothers and broken to allow ignorant humans to ride them and watch them paint stupid pictures and kick a football. Look up 'phajaan' training.
