Stumbled across your channel. I enjoyed how you describe the attitude it takes to do these epic events. I currently ride a short wheelbase recumbent and have done three doubles on it so far at the age of 70. Have another one coming up at the end of September and plan on watching this video again before the ride. The walking segment was interesting. On my next double there are a couple of 17 percent grades and my plan is to walk them to save the legs. Trying to think about how to carry some old disposable running shoes for that purpose.

Excellent. Yeah, if I had one more gear lower I would have likely pedaled, but since I did not, and 3.5MPH was the same walking or pedaling with a lot of strain on the legs...I enjoyed the break. On the second half of Big Creek I did a lot of paperboy and that gave me a 5MPH average. Yaaay! If you used SPD (MTB type) shoes, It would sure be better for walking! I might do that next time. Yo...doubles at 70 on a recumbent. Well done, good sir. gg

I would like to do it one more time to see if I can improve. Past that? Likely not. There are folks that have done it year after year. gg

Just came across this video. Nice to see someone else do a C2K video. Mine was about a different kind of suffering. I walked 4 times on BC. Good thing I brought along my secret weapon, ha. I also just subscribed. I enjoyed it. See you on the road.

Thanks. Yeah. My riding cleats took a hit on BC and Paper Boy became my best friend. You doing it next year? I m thinking one more time. gg

@@oldguyandabike Not quite sure. I turn 70 next year. Since that is the bottom of a new age group, that means I have to go to Master's Nationals, ha. It will depend on timing and type of training required. If I do C2K, I'll try not to be as greedy as I was this year.

I'm looking ahead to Fall and was just thinking I need to start looking for a real headlight. Do you have any recs? Do you like the one you are using? Heck of a ride. Congrats on finishing, that had to be rough when you weren't feeling 100% at the start..

Hmmmm...what kind of riding? If it is more off-road, then I have been pretty impressed with the products from Outbound Lighting. Especially for MTB, and perhaps for gravel, but I was not happy with the early sample I had of the road/commuting light, the Detour. But I know they were working on a second gen version sooo....not sure. www.outboundlighting.com I actually have used a lot of different lights for more roadie type stuff (or faster gravel) and my fav is one from Trek/Bontrager actually. The beam is just right in reach and width and it has no artifacts. I think I have this one: www.trekbikes.com/us/en_US/equipment/bike-accessories/bike-lights/bike-front-lights/bontrager-ion-elite-r-front-bike-light/p/27821/?colorCode=grey Now there are also ones from Magicshine that are pretty well recieved, but I have never used them. And Amazon and Ali Express are full of lights for cheap. But a great light is a combination of beam color, beam pattern (reach vs. spread), a good UI, and decent run times. It's easy to get that wrong. I used to build my own lights until it was cheaper to just buy them! gg
