I'm finally seeing my favorite musical, The Light in the Piazza! Starring Dove Cameron, Rob Houchen, Renee Fleming, Celinde Schoenmaker

OH MY GOODNESS! Today is the day y'all! I screamed like a little fan girl when the LA OPERA kindly invited to opening night of The Light in the Piazza starring #DoveCameron, , Rob Houchen, Renee Fleming, Celinde Schoenmaker, Brian Stokes Mitchell, and more! If you haven't seen on my main channel (this is my vlog channel, if ya didn't know!), THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA is one of my fave shows and has my all time favorite Broadway score!! But here's the catch-- I've never actually see it live! It's a beautiful, rarely produced musical so when I found out the London production was transferring to Los Angeles, I just about lost my mind. I only have one issue with LITP, and that is that they never cast italians to play the italian characters. As someone who lives and trains in Italy I know a lot of people in London who are italian and would have done an amazing job at this, but I get casting big names. But still, no one ever talks about the fact that there are never any italians in the cast. What do you think?🤔

Just watched it last night, and it was so magical! Rob Houchen was phenomenal! Dove Cameron was a break out and I can’t wait to see what she does next. She took such good care of Clara. My favorite part was “Hysteria”! The childlike sob that Dove let out when she broke down broke my heart! I’m so happy I saw this performance. It was truly special.

They do the writing on screens sometimes for people who are deaf so they can follow along with the plot💕 I went to see the bands visit in Toronto a couple days ago and they also had the screen and I assumed it was for translating the Hebrew and Arabic but it wasn’t! I did some research and found that that’s why they do they words on a screen.

I was lucky enough to see Celinde Schoenmaker play Christine in Phantom Of The Opera in the West End during a weekend trip to London for my 30th birthday about 3 years ago & you're so right about her, she is an amazing performer & has a beautiful singing voice.

I just found your channel (both) and loved the content! I went to see twice Light in the piazza (both times Dove got sick so she wasn't in it) and I tweeted about it to the producer telling him the understudy was amazing! but that it was a shame I didn't get to see Dove...next thing...he gave me 3 comps! for two different days (2 for one day and 1 for a day) ♥ LOVED LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA!! ♥ and your channel is amazing! ended up seeing it 4 times hahaha

We are obsessed with "Light in the Piazza" and we try to watch different productions everywhere...from Calgary, Canada, University of Portland production, London Premiere production, and the most recent, in Seattle last month where it all started before NY. It was a concert style production but it was wonderful. We can't wait to see it in Sydney next year. (we love the show so much that we named our lady garden statue "Clara" as the light in our garden..) cra cra...Thanks for sharing your LITP experiences...

I absolutely adored this show on West End. I spent a day working with Adam Guettel in a workshop so I got to go to the preview of the show, Dove was disappointing then but I heard that she got better as the season went along. Renee and Rob were absolutely phenomenal. Such a great show, such a great score and I feel so grateful I got to see it

I saw the production when it was in London and I didn’t like it. BUT that’s purely because it’s just not my kind of show. I thought the cast was INCREDIBLE (I wasn’t expecting Dove to be so good. I’ve seen Celinde and Rob in concerts and stuff and I thought they were absolutely fantastic as always), the set and costumes were fantastic, the actual story and music just isn’t for me but I understand why people like it❤️

Saw the B-Roll clips from this production...… WOW!!!! It brings a new life to this iconic story. Light in the Piazza is one of my favorites as well. Sad I never saw the original staging on Broadway but I grew up watching it from the LIVE FROM LINCOLN CENTER filmed performance. Praying they bring this new production to Broadway especially because the show just celebrated its 15TH ANNIVERSARY of its Broadway debut (even for a limited engagement).

This really reminds me of me and my mom, when we had a similar experience. We went to see a musical, which we both loved unconditionally and wanted to see for years, with the most amazing cast we could've asked for. We both cried throughout the entire evening. Closest I am going to get to coming to see this is watching a few clips on RU-vid from the LA Opera page... but it looks stunning....... I too have had my Brian Stoakes Mitchell moment. A long time ago he was singing at a capital fourth in DC I spent the whole day waiting on the lawn in the extreme heat with my toddler and my husband I took a moment to go inside Union Station for a drink and to cool off and he was in there with his family and doing some window shopping. No one really knew who he was but I marched right over like a total dork and shook his hand.. his wife complemented how cute my son was and we chatted for a bit about family and DC. SO SUPER NICE. Been a huge fan ever since.
