I also have a brown one from 1988, it is very quiet, has great ball bearings runs well over 380 rpm and has not required any greasing or oiling till now!!. its motor is a little bit smaller than this one, but has thicker and broader blades than the current usha fans. air delivery is excellent and easily beats the crompton greaves high speed. must say OLD IS GOLD.
I made a DIY cieling fan years ago during a very hot summer. The blades were simple rectangular plywood with square corners. When I turned up the speed to the max with a 1/3HP motor, it sounded like a helicopter.
Seems like an Usha Prima ceiling fan, probably you want to put a suitable choke type regulator to reduce the humming sound. Normally AC fans will tend to hum when connected to a wall dimmer switch.
@AVerbene u dont call it ugly just like that. this fan is one of the most powerfull chopper ever made in india. its an usha prima. this fan is perfect for summers. besides the aesthetics are not that bad either
It’s kind of like how the car wash blower starts up it starts off slow then It start spinning really fast And the same can be said about an air raid siren
@TheCeilingFanCollectorHD Incorrect that is because the inrush current gets decreased as the rotor spins up I’m 14 and I know more than you you know nothing
My grandma has a fan that is on her bedroom and DAMM its quiet af but it gets slightly loud when its on full.i imagine sleeping with a fan like that one.
@abh41187 . yes waht u r saying must be right...........i also hav the same fan and it is an excellent beast.......no other fan can compete against it...standing under it feels like standing under a waterfall !
@AVerbene what the hell..........it looks good just the way it is..............just experience its breeze and u wont give a 2nd thought 2 its aesthetics
Its insane how variable speed controllers makes fans noisy, they seems even worst on 220V. On 120V they can be pretty noisy too but not all the time and the sound is different. Your is really a zingzingzing sound while on 120V it sound more like huhmuhmuhmm.
The place that I went to on holiday had very similar fans that made the same sounds but the shape of the fans were like some type of octagon. It looks like the fan in this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rqvLeNln_VQ.html
