Episodes 63 - 67 Notes: Part 3 - The Road Back to Medina On the way back to Medina, Umar RA had calmed down and wanted to apologise to the Prophet SAW. So he went close to his camel and gave Salaam. But, the Prophet SAW didn’t respond. So he tried twice more and still got no response. So, Umar RA left the Prophet SAW and began fearing the worse. It was then that, a rider approached Umar RA and informed him that, the Prophet SAW was calling him. Thus Umar RA went to the Prophet SAW and he saw the Prophet SAW smiling. The Prophet SAW then began reciting Surah Al Fath, which had just been revealed. The Sahabah RA then returned to Medina after 6 weeks. The Treaty of Hudaybiyyah enabled the Muslims to be recognised as an equal, independent power in Arabia. It also enabled the Muslims to finally focus on other things that, are unrelated to the Quraysh. - Abu Basir RA A short while later, Abu Basir RA fled Makkah and came to Medina seeking refuge. The Quraysh then sent 2 men to come and retrieve Abu Basir RA and the Prophet SAW told Abu Basir RA to go back with them as he did not want to break the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah. Abu Basir RA thus went back to Makkah. But, on the way, he killed one of the men and chased the other one back to Medina. Where, the Prophet SAW told Abu Basir RA to leave the city before the Quraysh send more men after him. Thus Abu Basir RA set up an encampment near Jeddah, near Makkah and eventually news spread that, the Muslim converts in Makkah could flee to Abu Basir RA. Abu Jandal RA was the first to do so and this led to more Muslims fleeing there. After a while, they were 70 strong and thus to survive begun raiding the Makkan caravans that, were heading up to Syria. This hit the Makkah economy so hard that after one year, Abu Sufyan sent a message to the Prophet SAW, begging him let Abu Basir RA and his men into Medina. Thus the Prophet SAW, sent a letter to Abu Basir RA asking him to return to Medina. But, Abu Basir RA had a fatal disease and thus died shortly after the letter arrived. He was thus buried in his encampment and Abu Jandal RA led the men back to Medina. - Umm Kulthum Bint Uqba RA Umm Kulthum Bint Uqba, was the daughter of the infamous Uqbah Ibn Muqit who was executed after the Battle of Badr for his evilness towards the Muslims. Umm Kulthum RA accepted Islam in Makkah and escaped to Medina. This confused even the Prophet SAW on how to proceed. However, Allah SWT sent down the 10th Ayah of Surah Mumtahanah which stated that, Muslim women are not for Mushrik men. Thus, the Prophet SAW pointed out that, the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah only included Muslim men who had escaped and did not mention women who became Muslim and escaped to Medina. Thus Umm Kulthum Bint Uqba RA remained in Medina and she later married Zayd Ibn Haritha RA. Fun Trivia fact: Some of the Sahabah RA referred to The Treaty of Hudaybiyyah as a Ghazwa because the Prophet SAW and the companions came very close to fighting. Fun Trivia fact: Allah SWT mentions in Surah Al Fath that, some of the Muslim bedouins made excuses to avoid going on Umrah, out of fear of death. Fun Trivia fact: The Sahabah RA are not the same and have ranks. The Ashra Mubashra are the elite, then those who participated in Badr and then those who participated in Bayat Ar Ridwan in Hudaybiyyah. Fun Trivia fact: The Prophet SAW said in a hadith that, those who participated in Bayat Ar Ridwan are saved from the fire of Jahannam. Fun Trivia fact: The 4 Sacred Months are: Dhu Al Qadah, Dhu Al Hijjah, Rajab and Muharram. No offensive fighting is allowed whatsoever during these months and it is a major sin to do so. Defensive warfare is always allowed. Fun Trivia fact: You cannot have any weapons on you when wearing Ihram. Fun Trivia fact: The Miqat for the people of Medina is, Dhu Al Hulayfah and it is Sunnah to pray 2 Rakaats here. Fun Trivia fact: The Prophet SAW had a group of Muslims who were scouts around the 1400 pilgrims. Fun Trivia fact: In the time of the Prophet SAW, there were Zebras in Arabia. These no longer exist in Arabia. Fun Trivia fact: During the journey to Makkah. Abu Qatadah RA killed a Zebra. Fun Trivia fact: Qaswa is the name of the Prophet SAW’s camel and Duldul is the name of his mule. Fun Trivia fact: Hudaybiyyah refers to the plain. It means the little tree that is crooked, because the plain had a tree that was crooked. In our times the plain is called Ash Shumaysi and it is a village that, is just outside of Makkah. Fun Trivia fact: Anas Ibn Malik RA said that, there are 14 white hairs in the beard of the Prophet SAW. Fun Trivia fact: Taif was the sister city to Makkah and there was a friendly rivalry between them. Fun Trivia fact: It was at Hudaybiyyah that, Abu Bakr RA got so angry at a comment made by Urwah Ibn Mas’ud, that he told him to “suck on Al-Lat’s clitoris”. Fun Trivia fact: The goddess of Thaqif was Al-Lat. Fun Trivia fact: Shia means follower. Fun Trivia fact: Urwah Ibn Mas’ud’s own nephew was Al Mughira Ibn Shu’ba RA, who was a former highway robber who had embraced Islam and turned his life around. He was present at Hudaybiyyah and threatened to cut off the hand, of -Urwah for touching the beard of the Prophet SAW many times. I made these notes primarily for myself but, decided my fellow brothers and sisters may benefit from them too. I no doubt will have made mistakes in my notes. All the good in these notes is from Allah SWT and all the mistakes are from myself. But, I was very meticulous and tried my best to make sure everything is accurate as the Sheikh mentions it. You also will see I have added “Fun Trivia facts” under each of my notes. These FTFs are information YQ said that was off topic or not necessary to include in my notes for the episode. But, they were still worth mentioning hence the inclusion as FTFs. FTFs aren’t always HAPPY pieces of information. Sometimes they are very sad trivia. I just want to say that FTF is the phrase I used for them all collectively when making the notes. One thing I wanted to do but am too lazy to do is, maybe someone could take the FTFs from under each “Episode” and make an Islamic reminder/information IG/TikTok account and post them daily or something. It is interesting that Omar (ra) was worried the Quraysh would kill him over his actions in the wars against them and so they sent Uthman (ra). If you remember Uthman couldn't go to Badr because he had to take care of his sick wife, the prophet's daughter, and in Uhud he had to retreat. It is like he was made for the task.
Don't jump the gun. He has clarified this in his lecture on Karbala that politically every Sunni is a Shia, but Sunnis are not theologically Shia. Theologically Shia is the misguided one. Do your research before pointing fingers at people, please.

***** Muhammad RasulAllah delivered Allah's Message with the tongue of truth. Sahaba who had a tongue of truth only conveyed what the Prophet taught. What they thought with their own minds does not make it a part of Islam. After Allah completed Islam there was no room left for opinions. Changing circumstance as the world evolves are all included in the completion of Islam through Muhammad RasulAllah. You should not equate the Sahaba with Muhammad RasulAllah nor should you equate every Tom, Dick and Harry who expresses his opinion with Muhammad RasulAllah. Dr. Qahdi is in a place of worldwide influence through the internet and he should exercise caution in what he is spreading as Islam. He himself admits that he has left the Salafi group which he once championed and apologized for his mistakes. He is still on a learning curve and should restrain himself while still a work in progress.
FEAR ALLAH! RasulAllah (saaws) LOVED Umar (r.a) and ofc ALLAH loves him! He is buried next to the Prophet (saaws) and is highly honoured by Allah, so we will never stop defending him!
