MashaAllah, the sacrifices the early sahaba went through in the numerous battles. Wonder how hard and duration of training these people had before going to battle, training make perfect, did the Prophet (saw ) made any remarks on the importance of training

Episodes 82 & 83 Notes: Part 1 The Battle of Hunayn - Background During the 3 weeks the Prophet SAW was in Makkah. The biggest rivals of the Quraysh, the tribe of Thaqif, had decided they would retake Makkah for themselves if the Quraysh were defeated. The reason they wanted to do this was because they wanted to restore polytheism in Makkah and thus, this battle is essentially polytheism vs monotheism. The tribe of Thaqif were from the city of Taif and they had called all of their surrounding ally tribes to their aid, this included the Arab bedouin tribe of Hawazin. This army of polytheists totalled 20,000 and Prophet SAW had begun hearing rumours of this, so Abdullah Ibn Abi Hadrad RA was sent as a scout to verify the truth. The Prophet SAW upon finding out from Abdullah RA that the rumours are true, informed his senior Sahabah RA who were shocked at the size of the army. The Prophet SAW then decided to gather the 10,000 Sahabah RA which he brought to Makkah and the 2000 Quraysh present in Makkah. The Prophet SAW also went to Safwan Ibn Umayya for weapons and to Abu Sufyan RA for armour. - The Army Departs On the 6th of Shawwal, the Prophet SAW and 12,000 left Makkah. This army consisted of mostly Muslims but, Non-Muslims had also come along to participate. After 4 days, on the 10th of Shawwal, the Muslims arrived at the Valley of Hunayn, which is where the polytheist army had gathered. The Prophet SAW told the army to rest for the night there as they would attack tomorrow. During this time, another scout was sent out who reported that, the army had brought along all of their wealth. This caused the Prophet SAW to smile and state that “Inshallah tomorrow their spoils will be ours”. Malik Ibn Awf was the chief of the entire polytheist army and he had brought not only men to the battlefield. But, he also had brought all of the armies women, children and wealth to the battlefield too. This caused Durayd Bin Al Simmah, a senior member from the tribe of Hawazin, to be angry with him. Durayd also advised Malik Ibn Awf, not to fight because he felt as though this battle would not be a success for them, due to other powerful tribes not supporting them. Malik however, ignored Durayd. Malik had devised a cunning strategy, he stationed one contingent at the end of the Valley of Hunayn. He did his because it would lead most of the Muslims to enter the valley. Then Malik had also stationed archers on both sides of the valley, high up in the mountains. Thus the Muslims would attack that one contingent and then the archers would shower them with arrows. At the same time this is when the majority of the polytheist army would attack, leading to the Muslims being attacked on two sides and this is exactly what happened the following day. The Muslims had entered the valley and they had successfully defeated that one contingent. When suddenly a signal went off and hundreds of arrows were showering down from the skies. This caused the Muslim army to disperse helter skelter because they had not the appropriate armour to protect them from the rain of arrows. The Muslims began looking for any shade they could to avoid the arrows. This led to the Prophet SAW having almost no protection. The Prophet SAW was surrounded by Abu Bakr RA, Umar RA, Uthman RA, Ali RA, Al Abbas RA and some from the Quraysh. The Prophet SAW upon seeing the Muslims running, stood up on his mount and called them back stating “I am the Messenger of Allah and I am the son of Abdullah”. The Prophet SAW then told Al Abbas RA to call the Muslims back to him using the names of their tribes. The people of Bayat Ar Ridwan were first called back and then the Ansar. During this period prior to the Muslims coming back, Ayman Ibn Ubayd RA, the son of Umm Ayamn RA. was killed defending the Prophet SAW. - The Tides Change Eventually, all of the Muslims had returned to the side of the Prophet SAW and as they came back they stated “Labaik Ya Rasool Allah” meaning “here we are oh messenger of Allah”. The Prophet SAW then stated “I am the messenger, there is no lie about this and I am the son of Abdul Muttalib”. Once the Muslims had gathered, the Prophet SAW then picked up some stones and threw it in the direction of the enemies stating “May your faces be disfigured”. The stones that were thrown were a miracle because the archers were blinded temporarily as the Muslims regathered. The Prophet SAW then ordered the Muslims to charge. Allah SWT sent down Angels at the Battle of Hunayn in order to assist the believers. Jubayr Ibn Mut’im RA, who became Muslim after the Conquest of Makkah, stated he saw a dark cloud descend from the sky and then disperse like ants. Jubayr RA stated that this was the Angels coming down to assist the believers. When the Muslims charged and the Angels were sent down, the polytheist army fled and the Muslims chased after them. The Prophet SAW commanded them to do this, so that the enemies do not regroup. The polytheists fled in all directions, the tribe of Thaqif led by Malik fled back to Taif along with any other polytheists that were on the same route. Another large batch fled towards Awtas where the Muslims fought and defeated them. The rest were either killed or fled for their lives. - Aftermath When the battle ended, the Muslims had taken 6000 prisoners of war, 124,000 camels and 40,000 goats. The Prophet SAW’s foster sister was amongst those who was captured as a prisoner of war. She told the Muslims who she is and the Prophet SAW, after verifying who she was, allowed her to return to her tribe. During the Battle of Hunayn, 4 Muslims died and all 4 of the Khulifah Rashidun were wounded. Many from the polytheist army died including Durayd Bin Al Simmah. 37:00 Ibn Abbas (Allah be pleased with him) is reported to have mentioned a certain Dua that should be written and placed close to the woman who is experiencing hard labour at the time of giving birth. (Fatawa Ibn Taymiyya) Sayyiduna Ali (Allah be pleased with him) says: Dua should be written and tied to the arm of the woman. We have experienced that there is nothing more amazing than this” (Fatawa Ibn Taymiyya, 19/65).
Abubakar and Umar were allweys known as the two sheykhain, their special closeness to the prophet and their unik rank was undisputed. Her is Ali(ra) attesting to their special status (When (the dead body of) `Umar was put on his deathbed, the people gathered around him and invoked (Allah) and prayed for him before the body was taken away, and I was amongst them. Suddenly I felt somebody taking hold of my shoulder and found out that he was `Ali bin Abi Talib. `Ali invoked Allah's Mercy for `Umar and said, "O `Umar! You have not left behind you a person whose deeds I like to imitate and meet Allah with more than I like your deeds. By Allah! I always thought that Allah would keep you with your two companions, for very often I used to hear the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, 'I, Abu Bakr and `Umar went (somewhere); I, Abu Bakr and `Umar entered (somewhere); and I, Abu Bakr and `Umar went out."')
It is unlikely they had 20,000 men since it is the first time the Sahabah were proud of their numbers and their tactics and their opponents suggest the muslims outnumbered them. They would have chosen to fight an opponent they outnumbered in a valley were their numbers were restricted rather it suggests the opposite. In addition the number 20,000 is suggested by later texts. It is probable that the entire tribe consisted of 20,000 people.
It's kinda similar to going into a shop to buy something you really want right after you've received your first pay check. We're always overly confident when we get something we never had before. Similarly, since it was a time right after the conquest, they were very confident. Add into the fact that they were never 12,000 strong before, as well. Because of the overconfidence resulting from it, they didn't even think that perhaps they might be the ones who were outnumbered, not their opponents. God knows best.
In Islams first great general. the author also states that its unlikely they had 20,000. Remember that the largest army ever gathered was 10,000 before this point, there just isnt the man power in arabia, The muslims are Yarmouk were just 40,000 strong and this included soldiers from Iraq. In addition why did they choose to ambush in a valley rather than fight in a plain were they can use their superior numbers, the tactics suggest inferior numbers, this is something you can only appreciate if you understand medieval warfare.
I want to know if truly all the sahabah were the best of the best then why did 11000 flee and 7 stay, if you have firm iman you would stay, I looked for a verse that said allah guided you and you guys came back but no verse followed anywhere in the Quran, why do you lie what does it bring?

Shahid Ullah The Dajjal is the one who uses Taqiyya and LIES about Imam Ali on the battlefield. Allah supports the one who criticizes. A system that does not promote questions is corrupt because it is scared of the answers. If Islam is YAQEEN in your heart, you will not fear criticism. Wallah Islam is the Best system.

Shahid Ullah If you listen to this DAJJAL, you are a supporter of DISUNITY. How can you support someone who tries to break Suni/Shia relationships? Surely you are NOT on the Right Path. You have deviated from Islam and the Ahlul Bayt (a.s).
And how is the sheikh disuniting the Sunni & Shia. Would you be kind enough to give me an example. As far as I can see the Shia have done all this on their own, all by their selves when they conspired & instigated the beheading of our prophets most precious and beautiful grandson. You should be ashamed my brother. I hope you repent until judgement day and maybe then Allah will forgive you for your sins. I pray that Allah guides you to the truth.
