I love this cover. The electric guitar and his voice add the tortured and emotional feeling that George Michael misses with his smooth sax, though I love the original just as much.
Exactly. That tortured, tormented element is what i love about this cover!!! George's version was a more classy, sad lament. While this version actually captures the very deep, dark and visceral feeling of regret. Like you made the biggest mistake in your life for carelessly destroying the bond you had with a someone you loved dearly. Fantastic cover all around.
There is no comparisson between this version or the original. It's two different genres of music, I also like this one better, but, it is not because this version is better, it's just that I relate more with this genre of music. For example, my parents prefer the original version. It depends on tastes, not the actual quality of the version, because both are very good.
justin girard what do you mean gay? Careless whisper is one of the best songs (imo) I’ve ever heard. Regardless of specific tastes of music and whatnot, the saxophone solo is still amazing.
Great cover! Loved it. For those that don't quite get the video, it's all references to the 80's. A-team, teenwolf, q-bert, back to the future, street fighter, karate kid, greatest american hero, frogger..... the list goes on and on. Each sequence in the video reminds me of something from the 80's. The video has less to do with the song than the era the song came out.
There's quire a few covers I prefer over the originals. Nonpoint's In The Air Tonight, Lacuna Coil's Enjoy the Silence, Mushroomhead's Crazy, Johnny Cash's Hurt and One. There are so many more but I don't want to spend all day typing out a list of great covers
I feel so unsure As I take your hand and lead you to the dance floor As the music dies, something in your eyes Calls to mind a silver screen and all those sad goodbyes I'm never gonna dance again Cause guilty feet have got no rhythm Though it's easy to pretend I know you're not a fool I should have known better than to cheat a friend And waste the chance that I'd been given So I'm never gonna dance again The way I danced with you Time can never mend The careless whispers of a good friend To the heart and mind Ignorance is kind And there's no comfort in the truth Pain is all you'll find I'm never gonna dance again Cause guilty feet have got no rhythm Though it's easy to pretend I know you're not a fool I should have known better than to cheat a friend And waste the chance that I'd been given So I'm never gonna dance again The way I danced with you Tonight the music seems so loud I wish that we could lose the crowd Maybe it's better this way We'd hurt each other with the things we want to say We could have been so good together We could have lived this dance forever But now who's gonna dance with me? Please stay I'm never gonna dance again Cause guilty feet have got no rhythm Though it's easy to pretend I know you're not a fool I should have known better than to cheat a friend And waste the chance that I'd been given So I'm never gonna dance again The way I danced with you
Legitimately came to this version and just got home from seeing the movie. This would have made it more dramatic though and it was just too sarcastic. Lol
If only all covers could turn out so well. It takes true talent to remake a song so well it sounds like an original. They do a great job of preserving the greatness of the original song despite completely changing the character with their rock version.
I am George Michaels #1 fan, loved him since I was 9 years old in 1984. this is the only remake/cover I have ever liked and love the video too. I love Seether too. 💖
Muito bom. Lembro de ter visto esse clip no canal de TV a cabo pela MTVHITS. Escuto até hoje. já se passaram 14 anos. Escutem jovens que estão na casa dos 20. Aproveitem muito bem e façam bom uso dele. O tempo corre demais.
It's been more than 6 year that I didnt watch this video. Here I am coz I feel bored with the corona virus and trying to remember what I used to enjoy many years ago.
Time can never mend The careless whispers of a good friend To the heart and mind Ignorance is kind There's no comfort in the truth Pain is all you'll find- I miss you Billy RIP
To everyone saying WTF at the video (I'm guessing most of you weren't around in the 80's?) the original song was as 80's gem and the video is full of the Seether guys navigating through an 80's style game and besting all kinds of 80's pop culture icons with the aid of other 80's icons which I find is in keeping with this cover of the song besting the original. Nice homage to George Michael too. Nice bit of nostalgia, brilliantly done! ;-) -an 80's baby
The video is using different things which came out the same time as the original song, for example reference to 80's classics and retro games blah blah blah, IT'S A FREAKING AWESOME COVER
People who make fun of George Michael have no idea of his talent. The man isn't famous because he's clueless. This is a great song made better by another talented band.
I read an article in Guitar magazine a few years back about the Seether recording and production notes of this song. The string arrangements are played via Roland guitar synth, the old system that needed the installation of ROLAND synth pickup into your guitar in order to communicate with the Roland pedal board processor, that in turn, produced the unique analog synth string sound.
The whole point of the video is to show all the bullshit that went down in 2008. It's actually genius, you've just gotta be smart enough to look between the lines.
You don't have to be smart to understand.... The whole power and emotion of this song is lost with the video. The idea for the video is awesome but not for this song
