A série streets Of Rage e Golden Axe são o ápice dos beat'ups do Mega Drive.Alien Storm,Mystical Fighters ,Tartarugas Ninjas Hyper Stone Heist e a trilogia Double Dragon fizeram minha alegria na época também.Os jogos modernos não têm o mesmo charme dos jogos daquela época.

Esse Sailor Moon tem gráficos bem bonitos com sprites grandes... e esse Mazin Saga é muito bom, pena que só é de 1. E o Stone Protectors nunca tinha ouvido falar...
Crude Dude Eu achei os gráficos (cores) e carisma desse Stone Protectors bem acima da média dos jogos de mega, me lembrando alguns jogos de arcade, vou ver se pego pra testar depois.
+VCDECIDE Mazin Saga makes more sense as a solo game though, at least from what I grabbed about the manga story. Also I disagree about Stone Protectors looking better than many Mega Drive games, on the contrary. Stone Protectors is based on SNES assets and thus is visually compromised, with limited resolution and only a few sprites on-screen. Graphics look good but many Mega Drive games looks better.
Comix Zone tem elementos de plataforma e alguns outros, bem difícil de classificar. Second Samurai e Valis 3 são jogos de plataforma basicamente e Altered Beast está na lista.
Altered Beast, Sword of Sodan e o Splatterhouse 2 são jogos inclusos que são controversos também. :) Não existe uma fómula/regra que dite quais são platformers e quais são beat'em ups. Eu categorizo como beat'em up jogos com: * Combate corpo-a-corpo (porrada ou armas brancas); * Campo 2.5D de movimentação * Inimigos que não morrem com um soquinho. Acho que é o conjunto de parâmetros mais aceito, inclusive.
For the hundredth time, Comix Zone is not a beat 'em up, it has various puzzle and platform elements, has nothing to do with the beating a lot and think a little of beat 'em ups.
Yea but its rare an action adventure game has any beat em up style action to it.....its a beat em up with some puzzles in it, but the majority of the game is beat em up...

no "Soul Blade", by Taito? This era of games is hard to categorize. Some involve a lot of punching but enemies take 1 hit. Others have projectiles as power-ups that are much better weapons. I always thought the less-than-2-hit-enemy factor was the most important. If it's one hit, I'd say it's more an "arcade beat-em-up"
+House Music Catalog Did you mean Rastan Saga II? There are some parts that resemble a beat em ' up, but in general has several elements of platform games and challenges in scenarios that do not match the "hit a lot and think little" of this games.
Crude Dude Sorry, I meant "Saint Sword". I knew that wasn't right, lol. I forgot I had a crappy Genesis port of Soul Blade in my roms :P. Saint Sword is actually pretty good, aside from the Golden Axe likenesses, the changed enough to make it less a beat 'em up with the flying and projectiles and such. Yeah, I guess a lot of platforming would de-categorize it, too.
I don't understand a few things: If Alien Storm is a beat 'em up, then what is a shoot 'em up? If Golden Axe, Water Margin and Sword of Sodan are beat 'em up, then what is a hack n' slash? In these games you either SHOOT or SLAY enemies, you don't BEAT them! How can people fuse those categories together?

For this series I considered shoot em ' up the ships games in classic style. About Golden Axe and other games at the point they were released simply there was no such title "hack 'n' slash", were all considered beat em ' ups.
+Crude Dude According to IGN (ap.ign.com/blog/60097/evolution-of-hack-and-slash-games) the term "Hack and Slash" existed since the 80's through table games like D&D, and the obvious example they give referring to video games is Golden Axe. Anyway, since Hack and Slash is practically a spin-off of the Beat 'em Up genre, I guess it's not completely fault to categorize those games as Beat em Up. Oh, and another thing: you forgot two games on that video! DJ Boy and Comix Zone
+BigDaddyAEL1964 You can find the DJ Boy on the list from 4:59, Comix Zone, particularly, I don't consider a beat em ' up classic, where you just worry about hitting, because the game has elements of puzzle and platform games. Hard to be classified.

Cyborg Justice is criminally obscure and unappreciated. If you would give a little time to get use to it's pretty weird controls, there one hell of the ride inside. I know, it took me 2 attempts, separated by years, to actually understand how to really play and subsequently appreciate that game.
It was a game I played a lot in 1993, it was interesting to have mentioned it, it's an underrated game. But I don't remember how to do some things anymore, like stealing opponents' pieces or removing their bodies.

Legal, interessante e como algumas grandes empresas fazem a diferença o tartarugas da konami em 8 mega de memoria e extremamente bem feito e jogabilidade rápida, adoro esses jogos, por sinal tenho quase todos esses cartuchos do vídeo

Cutthroat Island is a beat-em-up, +Crude Dude, trust me. If you can punch or hack enemies into bits, then it's a beat-em-up game. The Sega Genesis port of the game plays damn near identical to its SNES counterpart. Also, Batman Forever is a beat-em-up game despite occurring on a flat plane instead of an diagonal view plane.

Verdade, pra mim um dos problemas é o excesso de história, de pano de fundo que os jogos possuem hoje. Tudo precisa ser muito elaborado e detalhado e acaba te tirando a chance de se identificar como o personagem do jogo.

Falto el Ninja Warriors (aunque el remake de SNES me gusto mas, pese a mi favoritismo por la Sega Genesis), en general genial video, no sabia que habian hecho un beat em up de Sailor Moon para ese sistema, con lo fan de esa serie que es mi novia seguro jugaria hasta prender fuego el transformador de la consola jaja (vere como se lo consigo, aun si sea en formato ROM :v). Hay un monton de juegos que no conosia y que valen la pena probar. :3

Gosto muito do mega drive, mas em matéria de jogos de porrada, o supernes humilhava, talvez pq as grandes produtoras da época tinham exclusividade, até por volta de 1994, como a Capcom e a Konami
O Snes ganha sim em beat em ups na quantidade, acho q tem bem mais no Snes, MAS o Mega Drive tem a franquia Strets of Rage, considerado fácil, fácil o melhor jogo de beat em up não só da era 16BIT, mas de todos os tempos, principalmente a obra-prima Streets of Rage 2. Agora com jogos de luta, discordo de vc o MD é tão bom, se não for melhor que o Snes. Então esse seu humilhava, passa BEM longe de ser verdade.

Está correto, o primeiro Double Dragon que foi lançado para o Mega é o 2, de 1991. Aí a Accolade, que era meio que uma softhouse pirata na época, lançou o Double Dragon 1 em 1992 sem a licença da Sega.

Can u name this game - . The game was played on zsnes or kgen emulator on pc. Snes or sega genesis. It's an overhead racing/combat and laps game, can also be played as multiplayer. The vehicles or players were school bus driver , ice cream truck, mad scientist etc. Also had weapons we could use running over a blue spot. Sometimes were chased by a dinosaur, or getting smashed by a huge gorilla at the side of the road. Can anyone name it please? Ive tried everywhere online.
I've played all racing games on the SNES and Mega Drive, I don't remember anything like this. The description seems more like something of the PSX, like Twisted Metal, Motor Mash, Circuit Breakers or Daredevil Derby 3D.
