Another well done maintenance & repair video Global. I have the MK III in my collection and really enjoy it for what its worth. Glad to see you have this on your video channel kind sir. Thank you as always. Anthony...
can you do a vid on how to fix controller port issues on the master system and why the controller won't let me move certain directions? I have done the cleaning to the controller and pads and everything and nothing is working still, but when i push down just a little on the controller port everything works, not sure what the issue is here.
Hello, I have a square D-pad type with the foam but the foam has melted and the D-pad it's broken to the side. Is there a solution for the for square type?
I actually encountered the square type Master System d-pad few days ago, and it had foam. It was so weird, I didn't even know the second model existed. The octagon type is superior, it just has nicer feel to it, and it looks sturdier overall. EDIT: Easy way to replace the foam is to get some of those small foam rings plumbers use (have no idea what they are actually called), and cut them to size, it's literally the same material.
Hey, oh so you've actually seen the legendary foam? I've never seen one but only assumed it must have had foam from the factory as the fit is sooooo sloppy. I'm currently designing replacement DPads for all models. I'm just struggling a bit with the 3D modelling tools as they can be overly complex. Design Spark Mechanical seems the best so far.
Nathan Stent I'm working on drop in replacement Dpads for both the Octagon and Square style controllers. The square one will fix the sloppy issue without the foam. They almost ready. 3D printed in black plastic.
There’s 3 types of SMS pads, there’s a thread on SMS Power about them. I saw the ones with the foam for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and I’m slowly cutting foam padding to size, as well as replacing the base part that slots into the d-pad hole.
Great vid. looking forward to the rest! I'm fairly certain a plastic polish/fine grit compound like meguiars plastx would remove those scratches! (learned that tip from GadgetUK164 :D)
Eric Hurley I have that polish and tried it but it didn't really make a difference so I cut it out of the video. I actually have another video on cleaning a Mega drive where I use that to remove paint and polish up the case. Certain plastics respond better than others and I think the controllers are rock hard
ahhh so you do! and I've actually seen that vid before. I just checked and I've nearly watched all of your videos at this stage haha. You're probably right, some plastics respond better to polishing than others. I've learned a lot from your videos, they're a great source of helpful info. Keep it up!
CoinHuntingDrew It's actually Service Games :P It was the damn TV commercials here in Australia saying SEEGA instead of SAYGA back in the day. It wasn't until I actually bought a Mega drive and heard it play SAYGA when booting I realised we were wrong. Whoops. Here's one of the TV commercials. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--cvV-3_kFec.html
There’s a person on eBay selling whole 3D printed D-pads: ebay.co.uk/itm/282847359376 That’s not going to be as nice as fixing the bottom plate, and re-adding the foam.
