Sega Chihiro is basically an OG Xbox debug kit with GD-ROM, for me the Xbox was a Dreamcast 2 with Microsoft branding instead of Sega. I always loved how Sega used similar hardware platforms for both Arcade and Consoles making it easier to make ports/games for either as example the Sega Naomi and Atomiswave and Dreamcast share their platforms.
Just a heads up, I have an Out Run 2 Sp arcade and you can still play the Out run 2 stages on it as well as, if you go into the system menu you can set it to play all the tracks back to back in one giant race. You can also, during music select, switch the music to the OG outrun by I think holding the brake and the down shifting... Sorry, its been a while since i played mine and I usually do it by muscle memory. Its almost how you change the colors. Cool video and congrats getting an OUtrun 2 SP disc. It took me four years hunting to finally find one and that was 4 or 5 years ago so I imagine its still really hard to find.
Oh wow. Am curious as i have outrun2 SP on PS3 (have the race wheel setup). What I am missing is the Egypt stage with pyramids. Can one access that stage on SP2? Thank you!!!!!!
I was a Technical Manager with Sega Gameworks back when Outrun 2 and SP came out and I upgraded ours so I knew as soon as you had the Disc and the Security key that it would work.
No way!! That's awesome, so glad you found the channel. Lot's of Original Arcade content, some 1up stuff but anything recent is original arcades for about the last 6-7 months or so. Thanks again and I hope you enjoy the channel!
If every upgrade was this painless there wouldn't be a need for IT techs! Congrats man, glad you got it running. Was the fan noise coming from the GD-ROM player or the cab? At least you can't hear it with the service door closed but I guess it gets pretty damn hot in there.
Love the dragon on the first stage if you pass it without damage or getting of the track. Even if you drive a bit slower you can manage to get the dragon (sp2 version maybe only, i dunno). And of course thank for the video, love that game (have it on my ps3, runs 1080p and 60fps, not sure even if there are differences to the arcade - with the level of graphics i mean). Keep up the channel
To be honest it was cool to actually see the Naomi. Such a shame that out run 2 never made it to the Dreamcast. But that’s pretty rad that you have both versions of our run 2 now. And it seems simple enough to swap the versions.
Exactly, I know another guy who might need to try some experiments on that confidential mission ;-) This video was actually inspired by one of our conversations.
What an easy upgrade this was! Loud fans are something you probably don't notice in an arcade setting but I definitely hear the fans of my Hydro Thunder running. Even in my garage with outside noise. I assume if I brought it inside it would sound like a cheap air conditioner running lol!
That's a really great idea. I was actually looking into a way to replace the GD-ROM drive with a SD Card, I'm not sure there's an option for that but I'm looking into it. Thanks for watching and great idea on the backup.
Very cool man! I was impressed that it worked with out a hitch. At least you can sell your older version to help make up the different for the SP version! Love seeing geeking things like this. I hope the monitor is an easy fix but I am sure it will be an experience. :)
I'm glad it went well, usually I run into problems.... Great video, I do need to build a racecade, I just have trouble with the software setup for the controls
I was super excited because I asked several people and I was getting mixed answers. I thought it would be fun to just do it and film the process, I'm super excited that it all works. It gives some new life to a game I play quite often. Thanks for watching! What other arcade games do you have? Just curious...

So many people told me to stop doing that so I listened to the feedback... haha. Thanks for watching bud! Once this monitor goes out, I will absolutely do a repair video on vert collapse.
sick! I love me some outrun 2 I have the PS2 version that has 2SP as a separate mode alongside the 2006 version with all the various modes and things in it! if I can get my games and stuff here I'm definitely gonna have to revisit it at some point!
It's such a fun series, I wish SEGA would continue it. Maybe they will consider it if they see Cruis'n Blast doing well on the switch. Thanks for watching bud!
@@RetroRalph of course man!! 100% agreed! I loved sega ages outrun but would've loved to see a similar treatment for the OR2 games. I DO have a copy of blast on its way from walmart so can't wait to fire that up!
That's so awesome bud! I was nervous about this one. Online everything I read was like 50/50, so when I turned it on I was like “Yes, yes, yes”. I had to take out the original footage because my dogs started barking and went crazy. Maybe I should have left that in... Haha. Thanks for watching bud 👍🏻
