You are very welcome. Glad you enjoyed it. The Saturn is just so awesome. It's a passion of mine. Cant get enough of it. Just wish games were not so rare and expensive.
Something to add: Get a Japanese Saturn! Playing @‘60hz is way better. Get an action replay! Not for the cheats but for the memory saving. Play everything in TATE if you can! Much better and how shmup should be played unless it’s horizontal. Get a virtua arcade stick version 2! Gets you closer to the arcade experience. Get a subwoofer system! I got on that hooks up to the headphone jack on my tv. The Saturn usually has arranged BGM and it’s absolutely awesome!!! Get a HDMI converter! Cleaner more polished presentation. Do all of this and bring a friend, to hold your jaw that’ll be dropping in complete astonishment of it all. The Saturn is bloody awesome!!!!!!!
Agree with you on everything but the HDMI converter... an absolute blurry disaster unless you're using a high quality upscaler. You're much better off on a good SD CRT with high quality component cables👍 The Saturn is definitely bloody awesome indeed!!
Excellent video! Just had this as a recommendation. Always satisfying to see someone in the UK appreciate the “proper” Saturn library. Nice collection you have and enjoyed your take on them
Thank you very much and really glad you enjoyed the video. Yes it's crazy to think many people owned or do own a Saturn and have no idea these games exist. It opens up a whole new world.
Yes indeed, Sega need to utilise there IPs and get back out there. They have improved in recent years and are doing alot of great stuff. We just need more. Thanks for watching and stayed tuned for more Sega awesomeness.
I think most everyone who is into retro games knows the truth now. One reason why the prices have shot through the roof, everyone realizes what a 2D beast the Saturn was and how many amazing games are on it, and theres just not enough to go around. Only back in the day were idiots spouting nonsense about the system in the west sadly.
@@clarku4 Same here!!! Incredibly underappreciated system here in the States... Fortunately for us however, it faired well in Japan, hence an epic import catalog!:)
Great video bro! Shmups are my fave genre since playing Galaga in the arcades in 80s! The Saturn is such a 2D console beast with rich hand-drawn graphics which is AWESOME. Growing my shmup collection with Strikers 1945 II, Shienryu and Batsugun being my current faves! Subbed from 🇨🇦
Those are some awesome shmups you have there mate. I absolutely love Shienryu but my copy is digital on playstation store. I have many more Shmups to get for the Saturn but cost is a real issue for some of them. Thanks so much for watching the channel and subscribing. Really glad you enjoyed it. I used to live in Canada and my wife is Canadian so its like a 2nd home to me.
@@clarku4 I hear ya man its $$$ for some great games. Where in Canada did you live? I'm originally from "Winterpeg" and based in Calgary now. Add me on Instagram if you have: reynoldsreyes 👍
I saw a video somewhere where it was believed that In The Hunt and Metal Slug had slowdown on purpose, for dramatic effect. It's an interesting idea...
Haha it definitely works. Some moments in those games are like a classic 80s movie with slow mo explosions. Also helps dodge bullets. Thanks for watching!
Loved the video! I definitely need to grab most of these. Only one I have you mentioned is Darius Gaiden. Two I own though that I recommend that weren’t on the list are the Thunderforce Gold Pack Vol. 2 (Great versions of ThunderForce AC and ThunderForce IV) and Radiant SilverGun. Love both of those.
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed it. I really want the games you mentioned but they are pretty pricey these days. Maybe one day hopefully. If I had them they would absolutely be in this video.
I'm a new subscriber and came across this video. Very cool! I do have all of these titles and it really makes me think on how things were in the 1990s. I got these games really cheap from Blockbuster Games as a kid because no one was interested in sprite based games at the time, so they were all marked down considerably, including Mega Man 8! Tekken and Tomb Raider were hot at the time so these games could be had for $30 US! Today it's the complete opposite and you can walk down an alley and trip over a copy of Tekken for $5. Thanks for making videos like this!
Thank you for Subscribing and glad you are enjoying the content. Yeah I try to anticipate what might become more expensive later on so I can buy it cheap now. Sometimes it's hard to know and I dont always get it right. Thanks for watching and hoping to get some more content inbound soon.
@@clarku4 yes I know what you mean, to be honest i buy a lot of repro discs. I can't afford the originals unfortunately. But luckily the repros look amazing.
only just started exploring this console. Got one off ebay a month ago(I had a ps1 since i was a kid) Loving the ease of playing region free games with Pseudo Saturn. So far i love Batsogun and Layer Section. Damn i missed out on the shooters of this console as a kid!
Yeah I got into Saturn about 5 years ago. Always wanted one as a kid but never got one. To think of all I was missing out on back then, especially the amazing imports. And now everything is so damn expensive and rare. The action replay cart is a godsend. I dont have the Pseudo Saturn, that's where you can play back ups right?
Sony was definitely paying off some people, or they were completely biased against the Sega Saturn. I witnessed many a review that had outlandish claims, like the super shadows were "done wrong" for SF alpha on the Saturn. And there's no way in hell games like hyper duel, or galactic attack would ever run on the PS1. Not to mention both in the hunt, and darius garden were better on the Saturn as well. The ram expansion cartridge allowed near perfect arcade game ports the as well, like x men vs sf. I know, I imported them from Japan when they were released using a pro action replay. Not to mention that panzer dragoon 2 would never have run on the PS1, the Saturn was a superior system in every way. If Sega had fought back, and had done their marketing differently. Then Sega would have won the console war, they made several mistakes with the dreamcast to. It is my favorite system of all time, and games like Guardian Heroes even to this day will NEVER be outdone.
Completely agree. The Saturn never got over the bad press which is such a massive shame because it should of done so well. It achieved alot of amazing things and to this day it just has something unique about it. Just think what amazing things we would have now if The Saturn and Dreamcast had kept Sega in the hardware business.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching. I bet you can find awesome games over there for good prices. Check out some of my other videos and subscribe if you like the content. Cheers
Really ? You must get it mate ! It is very cheap as well ! Around 60€. Where are u from if you don't mind ? You sound scottish a bit 😁. Sorry if I made a mistake, I'm french...
I just assumed it was mega expensive. That's cool. Will have to look into getting it. I am from Oxford England but I have lived abroad extensively so my accent might have picked up some twangs along way. Never had someone say Scottish before haha.
The Saturn...if you´re a fan of 2d fighters and shmups like me ,the saturn is a wet dream! Quick advice,do NOT buy a pal console and use the action replay cart!!! You´ll still play games at 50hz which sucks. Just buy a japanese console, they´re pretty cheap and then yes,use the action replay for the extra ram!
Yes I will be getting a Japanese Saturn at some point because some imports don't work well on the action replay. You need to change the voltage though don't you as it's different in Japan?
I DIDN'T KNOW LAYER SECTION WAS THAT EXPENSIVE I THOUGHT THAT GAME WAS CHEAP LOL 😂 SEGA SATURN MAYBE FAILED BUT WHEN IT COMES TO MUSIC SEGA SATURN NEVER FAILS ME HELL YEAH 🙂 THIS IS INFORMATIVE SHMUP VIDEO 🙂
Yeah it used to be but all Saturn games seem to be creeping up in price year after year. Glad I got it when I did. Thanks for watching. Hope you managed to find some of my Switch Shmup videos. I love Shmups :)
Thank you for watching. Yes Saturn is an amazing console with some of the most unique games out there. I've been checking out your channel. Awesome stuff.
