This video showcases the audio improvements made when I installed Zaxour's Sega Triple Bypass Remix board into my Model 1 VA7 revision Sega Genesis, which was essentially an early Model 2 motherboard in a Model 1 shell. Zaxour's board is a remix of TianFeng's Sega Triple Bypass (3BP) version 2, which in turn is a re-design of the original 3BP by dbElectronics.
I elected to focus on audio comparison since my video capture pre-mod was only at 5400 Kbps in OBS, while the post-mod video was captured at 8000 Kbps. Video was indeed improved by the mod, but I can't really show that in my capture as a result of the above.
The audio differences were very noticeable, however. Overall it's cleaner and less noisy/muffled after installing the mod. Throughout all 3 games captured, pay special attention to the synthesized percussion sounds. In Sonic 3, this is really noticeable when Sonic encounters Knuckles in the intro sequence. Also, note how the ring pickup sound is less shrill in Sonic 3. The explosions in the gameplay of Gunstar Heroes were also of note as an area of improvement. Finally, once the synth beat starts in Streets of Rage 2's intro, the cleaner percussion post-mod is quite apparent.
