I have the white-face (047?). Most useful watch I’ve ever owned. Have a more prestigious Rolex and my beloved Omega. Neither are accurate enough to navigate with - and I wouldn’t buy either again. When the time comes, I will buy an Astron again. It simply works for what I need. I need to calc GMT zone; the dual time gives me that. The chrono means nothing to most people as time-critical stuff is better done on digital stopwatches or sensors these days. Useless complications. I sail blue water. Traveling as much as I do, 2 time zones are a godsend. The titanium is quite prone to scratching despite people saying it is hardened - but it is unexpectedly and delightfully light. Steel or Titanium? Simply a preference. The accuracy is amazing and setting it is simple. Was skeptical about the battery tech, but mine holds a charge a looooong time. Water resistance is nothing I worry about either at 10 bars. I just go on with life and don’t worry about it anymore. Calibration is a breeze and smart too. And yes, the thing looks awesome! Would recommend for anyone needing a practical watch that looks great, is dependable and has the stuff you really need without all the stuff you’ll never use. Seiko has created a wonderful timepiece. Kudos are in order.

I have a limited edition. bought it for 4000$ and its the best thing I ever bought. I love it so much, I told my wife I rather lose the car then this watch. Best watch I ever bought by far.

Thanks Ariel for a great review. I've been wanting a better watch for traveling and have been looking at the new Astron series from Seiko for a while. Me personally I like the dual time better than a chronograph.

Phenomenal watch if you actually travel with (sadly not largely possibly right now) but it will be great for any outdoor trip to areas with no power or Cellular signal

Great video, but could you include the watch's model number in the description or title please? With regards to the watch, I am not a fan of quartz watches, but this is about as cool as it gets. I definitely want an Astron. If I had to have one watch, it would probably be this one.

Wait a minute..... You say it can receive signal from the GPS. Why you have to manually set the Day light saving time setting???? Did you get wrong information?

The watch is great except for the 3 things , one mention in the video that the GPS reception is difficult , I set my manually. Second the crystal is not recessed ,so you can scratch it easily and the worst is the wrist band. There are tiny sleeves in the wrist band segments that are unnecessary to trap watch users as there is nothing mentioned about them in the manual , making a easy task very difficult. If you don;t reinstall them the pins holding wrist band together fall out very easily. The small sleeves are very tiny and you can easily loose them or completely miss them.Plus there is only one minor adjustment on the wrist band clasp.

This would remove a couple of steps and a bunch of uncertainty during celestial navigation! ⛵️🔭

Massive respect to the tech. It's definitely a "tool" watch...which is what defined many of the most iconic watches of our time (Omega Speedmaster, Rolex Daytona, Submariner, etc). Buuuuut, I also think of watches as art...and that's why I'm willing to drop considerable dough on them. If it needs to be GPS, shock proof, anti-magnetic or anything like that I just get a digital. I gave a Garmin that does just about everything (and is virtually indestructible) for less than $500.

It should also automatically determine your time zone? 🤔. It just takes little longer than just updating time only... One store description I checked... said 6 seconds for time update, and 4 minutes for automatic "location"/timezone

I would have to disagree, with the second time zone. "Most" of the world uses 24 hour. Being from the USA, I like the 12 hour main, but the sub time zone should be 24 hour.

This kinda watch, It is so advance, i'll have trouble understand how to use it. Even after reading the manual, then forget about it after 2 weeks.....

Why would you need to change the timezone when it's got the GPS capability ? If you got to adjust it, it's like any other $50 watch. An atomic signal watch is far more reliable in North America, of which it transmits to GPS satellites.

Technology wise, this watch is great. Physical appearance, Casio Oceanus is better

I would never spend more than 300 for a watch with a second hand that "ticks". Shame too this thing is sharp as hell!!!

Actually the requirement of being outside makes the GPS watch technology useless. Atleast to me. It would have been cool if i could have done the time set sitting inside an aircraft or airport.

Citizen satellite wave GPS is a better value and more beautiful, if you ask me!
