I love my mm300- the size and weight stopped being an issue within a couple of days. Had thought it would be too big and heavy but now it just feels solid and has presence. A great watch for a great price.
you probably dont give a shit but if you are stoned like me during the covid times you can watch pretty much all of the latest movies and series on InstaFlixxer. Been binge watching with my brother lately :)
Damn... I am considering one for a long time, the size is what scared me away, but like the Tunas he wears so good and way less striking than his size would suggest
Great video! The fit looks great - how many links did you have to remove, and from which side, to get it? Looks like you're using the largest micro-adjustment hole. Looking at getting this one myself and have a 7" wrist.
hakonig Thanks! I removed three links: two from 12 and one from 6. And you're right about the largest micro-adjustment. I think you're going to love this watch.
That same clasp can be purchased for the Sumo which I purchased but the finishing of the clasp does not match the bracelet finishing of the Sumo. Also the Sumo is super annoying to size the bracelet with a strange pin and collar system so I already had it set with the original bracelet and would have had to resize with the new clasp. So I stuck with the original clasp.
Evan, which do you prefer to wear, this mm300 or the GS silver mag resistant quartz? both of those are on my next buy list, cannot have both though, always interested to know what someone else who chooses the sports-dress quartz and also the mm300 prefers. Thanks
Those two are so very different that it's difficult to compare them. The GS is slimmer, dressier, and certainly more accurate. The MM300 is sportier, mechanical, and has a interesting legacy. It's a matter of style, really. You can't go wrong with either if you can find them.
That clasp is the SAME one used on the Grand Seiko high beat diver for $9800!!!!!!!! Sure it titanium but it’s the same. This watch is seikos best bang for buck especially for the 8L35
You're Terrific yea I bought it and sold it because I couldn’t get over the fact that the marinemaster is that much better value. I’ll be getting one of these at some point. Great watch.
ripperx444, I tried to put this clasp on my Seiko Sumo but it did not match the finishing that well. Maybe if my Sumo did not look brand new at the time. The SS of the Sumo clasp is more shiny.
No, the new Omega Seamaster 300M is the best alternative to the ceramic sub. This does not come close. This Seiko has no ceramic bezel, no sapphire crystal, and no screwed bracelet (it has pin and collar). Not to mention the Rolex has far superior fit, finish, movement, and bracelet. Not worth $2500 in my opinion.
@@galaga8834 You're an idiot. I appreciate all watches which is why I also own a Grand Seiko spring drive and multiple G-shocks. But this MM is inferior to the sub in terms of fit, finish, bracelet, movement among other things and you can't deny that you can find better watches for the price considering they can go for over 3K now. This MM is not even in the same league as a Tudor. Better to compare Rolex to a GS. Only a person who has never owned Rolex will hate on the brand. Same reason a person with a modded Honda will trash a Lambo owner.
I recently came across this watch, in the form of the new variant. I'm now looking at the best way to purchase one in black. For now, the only I've ever viewed these is by photo's (which don't do them justice), and via RU-vid. To bridge the gap, and help me see if I like it on the wrist, I've ordered a Prospex Sumo. That'll help me be 100% certain before I jump. Hopefully before long, I'll source one at a great price and buy the SLA021. Great vid, easy like.
Hi, I know You own few more watches. I know they are quite diffrent but if You had to pick mm300 or sbgx091 - whoch one would You go? Is there any option You could shot a pic of them side by side on ur insta?
Thankfully I don't have to pick one. But since the SGBX091 is rarer and discontinued I might keep that one. That doesn't tell you which I like more, though. The MM is more fun, and GS is more elegant. I love all my children.
@@YoureTerrifichey! Since that reply i managed to get an sbdx017, not love it (to scared to wear it then) moved over to longines, omega, multiple seiko and rolex and two months ago came back to mm300 (sla021). God damn i love it now! Wear it every day, enjoying every second! I just had to grow up for it❤
The stamped clasp and the fact the clasp doesn’t cover up the portion of the bracelet that extended out when you deploy the micro adjust is this watches weakness IMO.
Fan of Seiko, but for $2000+, I'd rather have an Omega Seamaster. Plus, this is a thick/tall watch. If I could find one around $1000, then I would get one.
Couldn't agree with you more.If it was $1000 np but 2300 , i'll take an ORIS, and another Swiss watch. Seiko makes too many watches that all look similar no one cares how much you paid, it's still just a Seiko.
You can get this watch at Saiya Japan for under 2k but I agree I’m my opinion the price would be perfect at $1,500 . I love Seiko divers and this watch looks awesome just can’t rationalize a plus 2k price for it.
if you buy a watch to impress others then you should aim for an omega or rolex. But if you want to impress yourself and enjoy a watch then you should buy whatever brand makes you happy.
Seiko really needs to update the bracelet and clasp. The bracelet should be using screws and the clasp makes it very bothersome wearing while desk-diving. Plus, the clasp is very tinny and doesn't match the polishing of the bracelet.
i agree, when the sbdx001 first came out in the year 2000/01 the quality just blows out the competition even when compared to the submariner and seamaster which cost considerably more. These days the updated sbdx023 is quite pricey and even though the quality of the case, bezel, dial and hands are top notch, the bracelet and clasp lack in that regard.
Sometimes I think I should do watch reviews and say it how it actually is (FACTS) this is a great watch for the money, but Seiko don't give you the complete package untill you buy Grand Seiko the MM has flaws narrow diameter crown tube and fine tread heart in the mouth time when treading crown back as not to cross tread.Long center links that don't drape around the wrist as well as if it where shorter, and lastly the clasp is fine but the bracelet fit and construction is comparable to a sub £500 Seiko which does not live up to the head of the watch.I can say these comments with conviction as I actually own one.
I would like to offer different perspective - a prefect tool watch for people who want real value for their money instead of paying 90% of the price just on the brand like rolex.
The Rolex has a better clasp. The Seiko has a better watch. The Rolex built an escape valve to let Helium out. Seiko designed a watch that kept the helium from getting in, in the first place. Any one actually diving is probably better off with a Citizen Aqualand
