I 100% agree that this dial is one of the prettiest executed dials I’ve seen. I knew I had to have either this one or the Dark Samurai (SRPF79). So, I told the wife about both models, and I told her to choose one she preferred for my birthday (June 21). She chose the Samurai, and once I saw it in person, I was blown away.
I am waiting on my Trutle Dark Manta Ray and honesty.. I can't wait... it should be here tomorrow! I watched your video quite a few times in the past few days while waiting 🤣
This should tell you something: I’ve bought and sold like 30-40 watches since I got this one. This one has stuck around and will stick around. It may be my favorite modern Seiko and top 2-3 Seiko ever.
Hi, can I ask for information? Why are there 2 types of boxes with this watch? A simpler one like this one in the video, and a more elaborate black save the ocean one? A thousand thanks
Thank you for nice presentation. This particular version looks great. Still awailable new, but rarely. Thinking now to add it to my collection. And let Samurai on rubber strap go. 😊
From Seiko: ."The dial of this special edition timepiece represents the view of the ocean as seen by the 5m deep vision of the Manta Ray endangered species. Its colours echo the gradations of sunlight refraction and the patterns symbolise waves seen from under the sea."
Great video my friend. I just bought this I absolutely love it also. I had the same watch but only in Samurai and sent it back. To me there's just something much nicer about the turtle dark manta ray version. What do you think. And I have a 7 1/2 inch wrist so it looks really great on my wrist. Ray
"Seiko for some reason does not like to throw sapphire crystals on the dive watches". 4:01 There is a reason for this. Legend says: in general, mineral crystals are less brittle than sapphire and thus preferred for practical dive watched. Sapphire crystals are more resistant to scratches and thus more desired for non-diver watches. In real life, I would go for a sapphire crystal any time.
In practice, at the thickness of the crystal on these watches, there’s little difference in brittleness between the two. Seiko use mineral crystal on some watches because it’s an effective way to differentiate their product lines.
Great review. That watch is beautiful but you should try the king 🐢 green one. I tried them both on and to me the green one is just unbelievable. I actually like the other green Seiko king turtle band better. And that grenade dial just blows me away. See if you can review that one my friend. Ray
Thank you for NICE review! It was well understood that this watch shows various beautiful expressions depending on the amount of light. I bought this watch in Japan. Thanks.
@@AffordableWristTime the king turtle has a waffled dial. My comment was not to attack you, only to call out the difference 🙂 about the mantra watch what you have. I think that I also am going to buy one. I have the Sumo hulk, and really like the Prospex line of Seiko.
No worries. I Don’t feel attacked 😊 but I actually think you’re wrong. The waffled dial one is one of the King Turtles. The King Turtle line has different ones (including this one) and the major difference is the cyclops and sapphire crystal.
as usual, seiko again cut corners. nothing new. the chaptering at 6 o'clock is mis-aligned. rubbish work by Seiko. Citizen makes much better watches seiko.
