If they come out with a 40-42 milimeter sumo, I am buying it straight away.

I own second generation sbdc069 and third gen spb 181,I love them and it fits perfectly on my 7.5 inch wrist now I’m looking for a seiko limited edition spb223 to complete my collection 👌🏼

Thanks for such a fantastic and detailed review. I was considering the MM200 Reduced and something told me to have a look at the Sumo instead. Good thing I heeded that voice in my head. I think the Sumo is just as well made as the MM200 but at a lower price point and definitely with more character too. Looks like you have quite a collection of watches yourself ! Congrats 👏

Congratulations on a fantastic acquisition on this new third generation Sumo. I know this is the newer third generation with a movement ( longer power reserve) upgrade with sapphire crystal but to me is not worth what Seiko is asking for . I’ve owned the second generation Sumo now for over two years. Mine is model SBDC033 Sumo/Blumo and what I paid was only $420 . Now to me that’s a true value proposition. Again you have a great watch but at $700-$900 price range just too much in my opinion. As far as the clasp goes I ordered a Seiko Marine Master clasp for my Sumo and definitely added a superb quality fit and feel to my stock Sumo bracelet.

Watched this and on the power of it a Sumo was bought 👌 cannot wait for it to turn up.

The sumo really surprised me. I bought it online, having never tried it on. When it arrived I was prepared to send it back because of the size. I decided to wait a week before I sent the watch back. What really shocked me was how comfortable the watch is for it’s size. I had also decided before the watch arrived that it would be an watch I wore occasionally for a night out. But I wear it everyday now and it’s a pleasure to wear. I think if Seiko shrank this down to 40 mm it would be an all time best seller.

Fantastic video and watch, but the Sumo should have also had a ceramic bezel, would be really hard to beat and confirm the extra cost, thanks for sharing

... threat to the swiss industry? ok, then they have to improve their 4r and 6r even 8r performance a lot (amplitude, avg beat-error and accuracy) they are "mediocre" at best.. the only thing that rocks is the SD (spring-drive)

The narrow lug width ruined this watch. Moreover it's highly unlikely this watch was actually completely made in Japan unfortunately.

I wish it had a ceramic bezel insert, the aluminum looks cheap
