0:49 “Somebody commented that the Japanese title is ‘Sou Sou no Frieren,’ and it means ‘Frieren the Slayer.’” Hmm… not exactly. It means more like “Frieren of the Funerals,” or “Frieren who sees off the dead.” So it refers her to having to see off her dead friends as they die in a short span of her life. But to the demons, because she’d slain so much of them, the same words take a more menacing meaning. So the translators decided on “Frieren the Slayer” … maybe a good choice since it sounds so badass. Also, “Sou Sou” is not pronounced “soo soo,” but “sō sō” (like sew sew).

yeah when I saw that title appears, it gave me chills, one of the few benefit of understanding a bit Japanese. same as attack of titan when he mentioned the name of the title.

i like the swampy footstep from Sein when he get out of the swamp xD Stark from Eisen: We can tough out Poison! Fern from Heiter: Alcohol is the best medicine! Frieren from Flamme: Outdated seduction-technique! The only thing between Himmel and Frieren is time ... one of the saddest Sentence in the whole Anime. "I'm used to losing things" Frieren: What a strange way giving me a Ring Himmel:

33:35 “When did she kill demons then?” It looks like some of your thought processes were not lining up with each other, as Frieren’s village was mentioned, as well as Flamme, Frieren meeting the Hero party for the first time and her statement that it had been 500 years since she’d killed demons so she forgot how. Though I don’t know the exact times, from the information given from the show, this is what we know: 1) Frieren is at least a thousand years old. How do we know that? Because 2) Flamme is said to be a legendary hero from a thousand years back, and Frieren met her and became her student. 3) The burning village John mentioned is referring to Frieren’s village, which she tried to defend, almost losing her life until Flamme came upon the village and her. 4) Flamme is a human, and thus lived a normal human life and died, let’s say a thousand or 900 years or so 5) After Flamme’s death, Frieren lived a life of solitude, trying to keep a low profile until the right moment would come for her to kill the Demon King. Though the montage didn’t show her fighting demons, we saw her fighting monstrous wolf-like creatures. 6) In the flashback, Frieren told Himmel that it had been 500 years since she fought and killed demons. So, from this information, we can deduce that after Flamme’s death, Frieren kept a low profile, but probably fought and killed demons. However, she stopped doing so about 500 years before meeting Himmel and she lost heart and confidence. As a side note, since Lugnar mentioned that Frieren was known for killing the most demons in history, this probably means that she earned this reputation while she was with the Hero Party… because he wouldn’t have known about any demons she had killed before that since she kept her name a secret.

Your 4th point with 900 years would not be correct. In episode 4 when revisiting the home of Flamme she commented that her master knew a thousand years ago. So the destruction of the village and meeting Flamme (living thereafter with her) was over a thousand years ago - let's say 1050 years. In general Frieren reffered to herself in episode 10 in the fight with Aura as an elf that lived for over a thousand years. If she would be multiple thousand years she would have said she lived over 2000 years for example. So going from that she is somewhere between 1100 and 2000 years old. With how she is called to be young by Kraft I would lean centuries nearer to the 1100 years then short of the 2000. The rest is as told in the story.

Sein's brother probably kept using those humble conveniences to try and get his brother to leave the village priest hood and go adventure. Then along comes Frieren's party...

00:54 That's not what the title translates to. In Japanese, the title is _Sousou no Frieren,_ which could loosely translate to "Frieren the Funeral Goer". Or, more loosely, "Frieren the Undertaker", to use a word more associated with funeral work rather than just attendance. However, in Japanese, there's a more obscure secondary meaning that means not someone who merely sees people off at a funeral, but one who causes that funeral in the first place. When the demons call her "Sousou no Frieren", they're using that secondary meaning, which apparently blew the minds of Japanese fans when it first came out in the Manga. The closest equivalent in English would be to call the show _Frieren the Undertaker,_ with the implied meaning the fact that she outlives nearly everyone she meets, so sees them out of the world over and over. Then to have the demons call her the same thing, with the implication that she's not literally putting demons under the ground as an undertaker does professionally, but figuratively as a killer does. If they had gone with that title, I imagine we'd have been seeing memes with Frieren's face edited onto the pro wrestler The Undertaker doing a body slam, or something like that. I think of it as a missed opportunity.

Sein is a great addition to our little group. The ultimate mediator 😂 Episode 14 is one of my favorites, and not just because of the ring. That little scene with Frieren and Heiter is one of my favorite little flashbacks in the entire show. Hearing Heiter say that hit me like a ton of bricks cause I totally get it. I'm pretending too. I love that the merchant specifically sold accessories, so a spell like that is incredibly useful to him and makes sense to give as a reward to a mage that seems to be after interesting spells. Also yeah okay Frieren, Mr. Blue Mood Weed flower over here totally didn't know what the ring meant 😂

Fern was raised by a priest. Heiter probably filled her head with all the horrible things men could do to make her weary of the ill-intentions of strange men. And also didn't think to balance out her upbringing with exposure to good kids her age. Then maybe Fern was like that from before Heiter anyways. Stretching here.
