Probably has something to do with Larry David growing up in a rough neighborhood. I once took acting classes with a guy from South Philly, every improv he would set up a mob scenario. One week Philly magazine came out with a map of mob hits. A week later I drove the guy home and it turned out he lived right in the heart of mob country. You go with what you know.

Steven teaches all of us a lesson here for anyone entering a boardroom filled with high level executives. Never ask permission to sit down. Like Steven did, just sit down like you've been there many times before and talk as if those execs are crazy not to believe you, even if you don't believe yourself in what you're saying. That spontaneous confidence got him the scholarship.
I love everything about this scene. George keeping Steven behind a closed door and then doing a "big reveal" like they're on a gameshow. Steven's Forrest Gump wave and shit-eating grin. George's perfectly Costanza-esque spin of Steven's horrible grades. George literally pointing to the heavens while stressing the importance of architecture. And Wyck passive-aggressively ass-checking George out of the way when he gets up to congratulate Steven. Genius.
Best part of that episode is when George meets the Van B Boys in an ally and flashes the sign. Gang Member: “That’s not the sign...” George: “Was when I was bangin!”
@@RyukyuStyle George is like the kind of guy who you just see and you instantly hate him. So every time a character or event would piss off George people would validate said character or event. Often there was no benefit in doing so. But it pissed off George and that was enough.
The top is president. Anyone can be a specialist in a field but none of those can nuke the planet into nonexistence. Ambitious individuals settle for the upper middle of society. Historic individuals want it all.
Loved this scene, when I was in undergrad Engineering College lots of the guys who couldn't cut the advanced math changed their major to Architecture and our running joke was "What do you call an Engineering major drop out? An Architect" (a Ph.D. Engineer who works for a large American defense contractor's Missile Systems company.
"Isn't an architect just an art school drop out with a tilted desk and a big ruler?" I can think of something else one particular art school failure did...

I love how the board hates George so much that they just immediately accepted Stephen the second when George stopped pushing for him even though they were so deadset on academics being the basis for the scholarship.
It doesn't look like Jason Alexander (George) and Jed Rhein (Steven) are related in real life, and today they don't particularly look like each other. I think Rhein was just made up to look alot like George in the episode.
I am very conflicted. I don't know who to root for, Steven who 's scholarship is taken away by George because he didn't want be be an architect or George who is being threaten to give back Steven's scholarship who's grades mean he doesn't deserve it.
