Total play time was 60 hours. Elden Ring next year. The next episode will be Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. I fancy something light and cheerful for a change of pace.
I know there's other RU-vidrs getting the platinum trophy nowadays, I think you inspired them to do these type of content. Because you're such a Legendary Platinum Trophy RU-vidr. Btw I love China and Japan, because the sceneries in those places calms me down the most
That is nice of you to say. I think Nick AR inspired them though - titles, thumbnails, opening subtitle text, trophy tracker are all similar - and Nick was inspired by Mr. Beast and Mystic. China and Japan have beautiful landscapes. Hope to get to Japan someday.
I remember my first playthrough of Sekiro lasting around 40-50 hours. Most of that was me floundering at the new mechanics and the bosses. My brain just refused to unlearn my Dark Souls habits, even after playing the hell out of Bloodborne. I was royally pissed off and upset with myself multiple times. But when it *finally clicked;* oh my fucking god I could actually play the game and get somewhere with it. And when I finally beat Sword Saint Isshin, I was on top of the fucking world. Sekiro has gone from maybe my second least favorite FromSoftware game to perhaps being my second favorite. Maybe even my number 1, depends on when you ask me. It was nice to see someone react to things I've known about for years, for the first time. It sort of reignited some of my forgotten passion for Sekiro. Many thanks, Adam, for the incredible episode.
The most Adam thing I can think of is stopping to take in the sceneries, haha. You truly are the master of making even the most stressful games a relaxing experience. Great episode dude!
This series is comfort entertainment. Well crafted, full of emotion, and and always makes me smile. It is also inspiring to learn from fellow content creators. Cheers for your Premium Entertainment, Adam.
I first stumbled across your channel towards the beginning of secondary school. In a couple of months, I’ll have finished university… and I still look forward to the next platinum journey.
I lived in Tuam for a year and the moved to Enfield Co. Meath where I stayed for almost seven years. Moved back when my son got born... I love Ireland.
Fantastic video Adam. The editing, music and storytelling were all top notch. Really glad you enjoyed they game, it's honestly one of my favorite gameplay experiences. Thanks for such a phenomenal video.
My roommate and I watched this as soon as the Patreon alert came out, hands down out favourite episode you've done. Great work man, what an achievement, you looked like you were having the best time :)
It is a huge compliment that this is you and your roommate's favourite episode. You are not the only people to say that, other patrons have said the same. Personally, it is fantastic that after 8 years of making the show I'm still making someone's new favourite episode. Platinum Journey will be around for a long time to come :)
Absolutely loved the video, probably my favourite you've put out so far. Felt a lot shorter than it was, so you know it was a great one. I'm very glad to see you enjoyed Sekiro, its one of the best games ever made in my opinion. Can't wait for the next one Adam, happy hunting :)
Yooo this is fire! This is probably the second-best episode to Metal Gear Solid 4, nothing can beat that. Great work Adam. Your videos are exemplary for other platinum RU-vidrs.
Bro this is by far one of the best videos you ever made. The editing was top notch, the music fit the game so well, and the video is entertaining from beginning to end. I started watching you around 2015-2016 and by each year your videos continue to improve. Keep up the good work.
Thank you very much. Delighted you enjoyed the video so much. I do try to improve year-to-year so am honoured you see how the videos have gotten better.
Great video, Adam. Seing you with a white shirt and blue tie, always makes me smile. I struggled so much with the final boss (Sword Saint, Isshin Ashina). It wasn’t even funny anymore. I took a two year long break. When I decided to come back to the game, I did a fresh playthrough to get back to form and it was amazing to me, how easy my "second" playthrough was. Bosses, I had struggled with in 2019 (Genichiro, Guardian Ape, Owl), I beat in a few attempts. With more confidence, I returned to my 1st playthrough and finally beat Sword Saint Isshin. This boss still gives me nightmares, but the rest of the game is fantastic. It is my third favorite FromSoftware game. (1 BB, 2 Demon’s Souls).
Thank you. I like keeping the outfit the same, it is my Platinum Journey attire, haha. Don't blame you for stopping. The final boss is tough. Yeah, in new game plus you really see the improvement in your skill.
What I love about your Plat Journeys is that your production really feels like watching a BBC Nature doc by the legendary Attenborough:it’s soothing and also tells a unique story!
That is a huge compliment. David Attenborough is a legend. In my opinion, England's greatest person. To be compared to him is a massive honour. Thank you.
I've been waiting for this episode and it's one of your best! Congrats Adam, you did an amazing job on telling us your journey across Ashina with a lot of enjoyment!
I love how your channel is a very chill no rush just play and enjoy I like a lot of trophy channels but genuinely wait for your videos because it seems you pick games that you genuinely enjoy
Thank you. I am quite selective about which games I cover. If I'm gonna spend all that time getting the platinum and post-production, might as well like the game.
Love your channel Adam, been watching you for years. Hope you never stop making these fantastic gems for us to enjoy! This platinum is definitely a tough one, big accomplishment 👏
I love to hear this! It is why I say "grab a drink" at the start. For some that is tea, coffee or water, but I get a kick out it being beer for some folks.
Demon of hatred is actually a pretty good fight, though an acquired taste. It boils down to be all the way out and then all the way in. He's definitely a sekiro boss, he just feels different.
This is an amazing treat to enjoy after a long day at work, I highly anticipated this episode and love both this game and your incredible video format of platinum journeys!
I finally finished this game after starting it back in 2018 and I found it to be brutally difficult, frustrating and I began to doubt my own ability. So I took a break. I came back to it a month ago and found a renewed sense of perseverance and patience. Failure to beat certain bosses was all part of the learning experience. Yesterday I got the Platinum and now I can watch this video without feeling bad 🙂
Great Platinum Journey! I'd only done this in January myself! No game has given me a sense of genuine self progression and improvement like Sekiro. It trains you to be better. It's palpable.
Congrats Adam! I hope to one day soon follow in your footsteps and also get the Platinum. I too have only completed Bloodborne to date and I hold both Bloodborne and Sekiro in high regard. I like some things about one more than I do the other, so I think I'm just happy to give them both 1st place :)
Man I love Sekiro and it's great to see other ppeople play and appreciate it as well. To this day it's still among my 3 most favorite platinums, because I had to really work for it after walking away from it twice, because I just couldn't get into the combat, I just didn't get it and it frustrated me to no end, because I've gotten the platinum (I count 100% on Steam as a platinum too even if it doesn't have one) every other From Software game multiple times, like every itteration of the games that were available to me, but I just couldn't get past Genichiro at Ashina castle, but in the end perseverace paid off.
Loved this. I still feel like Sekiro is an underappreciated game so I always like to see someone have as much fun with it as I did. I might have to replay it soon after watching this 👍
Congratulations! After I got the hang of it, I felt quite satisfied with the game and with the achievements. But it took me a good 20 hours... Btw the purple ninja gave me a headache, until I figured out, and destroyed him. And good to see a fellow gamer finishes and overcome the struggles this game offer!
Nice video, this was a enjoyment to watch. This looked like a fun learning curve with a solid story. I haven't platinumed even my first FromSoft-game yet, Elden Ring still sits at 0% 😅 Eventually I think I would give it a go again with a fresh start by picking another class to start with. This video kind of gave me an idea that I might want to try to do Sekiro too someday. Keep up the good work.
Incredible episode, the storytelling in these videos is unmatched. Made me interested in playing the game as someone who hasnt played soulsborne games before.
Congrats on the platinum! I’m still trying to get mine, I’m about 3/4 of the way there. The only trophy stopping me is gathering all the prayer beads. I’m missing one and have no clue what boss it is. Great video!
As someone who has currently platinumed all of fromsoftware souls games( ds2 hasn’t been attempted yet and DS1 is in progress ) Words can not how utterly excited I Am for this. Sekiro has the best combat in all of my gaming experience, it’s both the hardest to learn and the easiest to master
@@AdamMcDermott glad you enjoyed it! Can’t wait for Elden ring next year! Elden ring difficulty depends mainly on how you decide to approach it. It can be the hardest or the easiest if you decide to whether use a meta build or whether you decide to use Summons or not. So basically feel free to do whatever you want!
Good work as always Adam. I am currently working my way through Resident Evil remake and just have to get the two endings with Chris and the no save playthroughs done. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart was one of the most fun experiences I have had with a ps5 game. I would also recommend Returnal. even though it's a rogue like game, I think you will enjoy the gameplay.
10:55 Just like you, I fought the shinobi hunter a bit too early, prior to even unlocking the Mikiri counter. On my first run, I died to him more than any other enemy in the entire game.
I’m on my platinum journey now… I’m having trouble with Owl (father)… I died to him for about 3 hours straight last night … I have conquered his first phase, but I keep getting killed halfway through the second blade. So far my best strategy has been Mortal Blade in the limited openings and deflecting effectively
Ah this was a great episode. I didn’t rush as fast as usual to watch as I had less interest in the game but it actually convinced me to buy this in a year or two.
This gotta be in my top 3 favourites videos of all time because goddam this is a good video, the wait was definitely worth it!! I thought you were going to struggle in the guardian ape fight a bit more but I guess im just not good at the game😅 I was thinking maybe you could do a series where you see the platinum trophies of subscriberd while you do this videos so the channel becomes a little bit more active while you do the next platinum journey episode. just an ideia tho
Wow, that is glowing praise. Thank you. I don't care for looking at other peoples' trophy lists I'm afraid. Don't even look at my own. Thank you for the suggestion though. I know you are trying to help.
Another great video, Adam! Was really thrilling to see you overcome this one. Great idea to use the umbrella for Ashina, I always just ran whenever he did the big spin thingy. Liked your use of music in the video too! Btw: Did you constantly switch between japanese and english voice acting?
Hello just letting you know a thing about mini bosses you can reset the area after killing just the enemies with the mini boss still alive if he notices you can just ran away and hide till you arent noticed then just sneak back and get your death blow guaranteed. Love the video great job and I'm currently trying to platinum sekiro as well... I just beat owl father!! That was a insane fight I died too many times but he died so I guess it evens out sorry for the long message. Again love your videos and have a great night.
I vowed myself away from Souls games as I got older since I get so angry haha, but awesome episode. Love when I see a new video of yours come up on my feed! 🥳
