Will the quartz work as a tap tempo if I use it on a DD20 and still can to change preset without having the tap tempo each preset and set to what tap temp is set on the quartz
Can I just say... your explanations with the visuals are so nice. For a Midi luddite like myself, I am becoming way less terrified of the capabilities of such a device. Also, I could listen to you talk for hours... You have a great speaking voice!
Hi, absolutely love my quartz v2.I have decided to incorporate the line 6 hx stomp into my rather modest rig.Would my quartz be able to increase the flexibility of the stomp in a live situation? Any thoughts please?
Glad you're liking it :) These videos might be of interest for the HX ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QkMBuObFu3s.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CqK62gtmAo4.html
Is it able to "trick" a delay pedal into thinking that an expression pedal imput is a tap tempo imput? I was wondering because the Boss Dm-2w has an imput for an expression pedal to control the rate, but I was wanting to tap the tempo in, instead of moving the foot pedal to control the rate. Thanks.
Looks great. It's funny that you mentioned that it doesn't send a click track, because that is exactly the kind of feature I've been waiting for on these pedal sized Tempo devices for a while. I've tried finding other pedalboard friendly devices that will accept MIDI Clock and output an audio click, but no dice. Just wanted to say, great device .... consider one day solving the audio click out as well.
Thanks for the kind words! We've thought about it, but unfortunately we couldn't get that feature in there at this time. I can definitely see how it would be a useful feature and it's something we're still open to!
Plans to do that very soon! In the meantime though you can download the libraries for those pedals here: www.selaheffects.com/quartz-support/ Add them to a Midi Stack and test things out.
This might be a dumb or obvious question, but can I use this with a Boss Slicer? Specifically, will the Quartz send midi clock bpm through the midi output or only through the four quarter inch jacks? I’m asking because the Boss Slicer only has a midi input connection and not a quarter inch jack. Thanks in advance!
I'm terrified of MIDI! Considering this or the Disaster Area Micro Clock or Smart Clock. I have a few delays, some with MIDI in/thru, one with MIDI-in only, a couple with regular tap-in, and a Tremolo with tap-in (or MIDI control, it's a Source Audio Vertigo), GFI Specular Reverb V3, and my Line6M5. Syncing most or all of those would be mega. So many decisions, me so dumb=terror!! But it'd be so cool if I could make this work and use my Disaster Area DPC=8EZ loop switcher.
i havent seen this question in the comments. how does the global tempo work? i use the quartz along with the pbc 6x and it works great using each preset from quartz as the main tempo. i have a couple "go to" ambient and basic presets from the pbc that i use. i currently am duplicating my "go to" pbc preset but with a different quartz preset so that the tempo aligns with the song. it would be nice if i could have for example... quartz preset 1 set at 80 bpm and preset 2 as a global tempo so when the midi changes to my "go to" sound it changes to preset 2 but tempo is still 80 bpm. (whatever the last bpm was set at)
I just ordered mine. Just want to make sure I can do what I think I can do with it. I want to be able to control midi tempo click going to my hx stomp and control which presets I’m using on my stomp while also sending tempo to my external delay pedal also. I want to also set the two button foot switch to control set list up and down. This is all possible correct?
can the quartz run an expression pedal that is analog (signal coming from pedal, into quartz, back to pedal on what would be the wiper) AND/OR a MIDI signal?
Hey Nate, Yes it can. It sends out a Midi Stack of messages and each one can target a different device. There are limitations on how you can set the range of the sweep though. So please check the manual to make sure it won't be a limitation for you.
THIS is, I'm pretty sure, the solution I've been looking for forever. Apologies if you went over it in the video and I just missed it, but... Would it enable independent use of say, multiple delay pedals? In other words, can I have my analog delays engaged, then engage, say a timeline, and have them both working independently of each other (as in, not echoing off each other). Or would this still only control the pedal functions, but ultimately keep the pedals chained?
You'd be able to control the pedals independently, turning them on and off or changing presets, or just parameters. But you won't be able to change the audio path. So delay 1 will always be going in to delay 2, unless you use the Quartz to control a switcher too. This is also assuming that the pedals have the ability to be controlled this way. The Timeline is fine. Let me know if you have any other questions or if I misunderstood :)
Thank you for the quick reply! Yes that's exactly what I was looking to find out. This is still a hugely useful device. I'm looking to have 2 delays in an fx loop, with the ability to say, have an 'always-on' slap for instance, with the ability to add say a timeline, without the influence of the slap. So having delay 1 and 2 acting independently. Do you happen to know of a solution for that short of running two amps?
Thank you very much. Sorry if I missed it in the video but how would I set up the footswitch to start/stop the midi clock? I downloaded the app but can't seem to figure it out.
You should just go to the Footswitch Functions Page and set it to "Toggle Midi Clock Out". Then everytime you press the footswtich the Midi Clock will either start or stop. Make sure you copy it to all presets if you want it to happen globally.
Not currently sorry. Mentioned at 30:18 in the video. It's on our list though. Is the Op-1 able to sync to an audio metronome? Could you split it and sync them both to the metronome?
