People often say ”Black” or “Latin” about people as well as music, and it’s silly; people can be both. That really applies the sound of Combo De La Musica too; their music is as much Harlem as East Harlem/El Barrio. Another way of putting it is that it’s music that crosses borders and genres. Formed around Kristin Amparo’s commanding voice, Combo serve up a mix of boogaloo, soul, jazz and even some Brazilian flavors. Think of it as food and your mouth will start watering.
Selam Sessions is our long overdue project to showcase the whole range of music and styles that Selam represents to the world. We’ve finally organized a series of recordings highlighting the output of the artists we love most and presenting work of the highest order to music lovers globally.
