Once you have all cells selected with desired word, right click one of the cells, left click delete and you should get an option to delete entire row👍

how to select whole rows instead of individual cells?

I guess the question is, why do you want to select the entire row? You can perform Excel actions with just a single cell selected. The shortcut Shift + Space selects a row, but it only selects the row of the active cell in this scenario, so a macro would be a solution. Depending on your objective of selecting the row, Power Query would be a tool to possibly help, or a macro. This scenario is too limited.

is there a way to build this function into the cell itself? So when you clicka cell containing EAST, it will automatically select all the cell in that column containing east?

Sure. It would require a macro though to execute the selecting of cells.

Filter for the East (or whatever value), select the filtered rows and copy and paste. Or use the Advanced Filter feature, Power Query, or FILTER function of Excel. Your choice depends on why and when you do this

You're welcome. Sounds like a macro task. In theory, a formula could be used to identify the row requiring an inserting row and leaving a character for this technique to use. Similar to my approach in this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-irEOamEoJ9A.html But finding values in consecutive rows causing a problem. And, macro is probably best.

You have probably noticed that you cannot copy non-contiguous cells, hence the question. The easiest way it to filter the list by East instead and then copy the cells you want from the visible data.

Hi there, thanks for the vid. What if I had a column of numbers (say, with values 1000, 1001, 1002, 0, 1) I wanted to select only the values that had 0 and delete them. If I say "find 0", it will pull all numbers that have a 0 in them, but I want JUST 0. Do you know how I would do this?

That would require a macro or Power Query to delete them. Easiest way manually is to filter the list and copy the resuls elsewhere if you want, or use Advanced Filter.

Hi, You have given a good way to find all similar cells in the old versions of microsoft. Although in my mac I am using excel 365 and upon pressing command+F I am not getting the dialog box to find all similar cells just showing option for find. so that i am not able to find all similar cells. please help me out. Hi Rohit, I don't use a Mac, but you can hopefully go into Replace instead of Find to bring up the old dialog. It might be on the end of the Home tab.

Hello, I have the following situation: I have a excel doc with 14000 lines. I need to erase specific lines. Each line has the first cell (from column A) begining with a specifica value: "03" as an example, after "03" the name is totaly random. Exemple: 0335423 0302 03namename 0532432 0503 05batata Some cells have the 03 value in the middle, example: 02040399. This type of cell is not the one that selects the line to be erased. I want to delete only the lines that have the cells from column A starting with"03", not the ones with "03" in the middle

You can follow the tutorial, but in the Find box enter ??? - three question marks indicate 3 characters in length. Then check the box for match entire cell contents only. You can then select all like in the video and copy and paste elsewhere. For more complex work you may need to check out VBA or Power Query. But what I suggest should do what you need simply.

For this, I would have filtered for the East and then selected and copied the filtered rows instead.

That was really helpful, now once you highlight those values can you sort so all the values can be at the top of the spreadsheet together, example if i had (USA do play Soccer) theirs 400 out of 3000 that contain the word Soccer, then what i would want is every cell containing the word soccer to be all together at the top of the excel spread sheet is there a command for that.

You're welcome. After selecting the cells, you could change their fill or font colour, and then apply a sort based on colour.

You could filter the list, then select it all and copy and paste. It will not copy the hidden rows unless you are on an old version.

I'm not sure. If the area with the find results is active in the Find window. Then you press Ctrl + A it should select the cells on closing that window.

Perform the same steps but in the Find box enter *7 instead of east. The * is a wildcard. So that asks it to search for everything ending in a 7.
