It's nice to see Fernando enjoying the fruits of his labor. "Help enough others get what they want and you will get what you want." It's also nice to see him with exposed cords, blocked walkways, blocked doors, reflective surfaces and not having a perfect, equilaterally placed centered chair in the sweet spot. We all have compromises to make and I'd take those compromises to get that amazing view! :)

Thanks for your kind words. I enjoy trying to solve tricky rooms. This one is super tough but still worth the effort. I tried a few smaller speakers and the room ate them up.

Yeah the hifi audio business took a massive blow during covid, more than others because some important OEM manufacturers stopped temporarily (like burned down AKM factory) or even stopped permanently (like Jelco)... and now other types of retail are also getting into trouble because of the upcoming recession.

My main system is in a large sunny glassy room. So I leave the drapes partly drawn most of the time. Maybe open the ranch sliding door to let it breathe better. Oh, the christmas tree when up, has marvellous acoustic deadening properties! A friend uses a clothes hanging rack, for a similar function!

. Nope. not crazy. Your way would be better. The problem is these days people can't break the habit of piling the electronics on the ground between the speakers. Done just so they can have a prideful thumbnail with the whole system in one post regardless of sound or sense. Acid Jazz, Funk & Brass 🔈🔉🔊

Great demo. Clean setup. Do you guys sell audiophile LP's? I just have a few audiophile LP's from the early 80's, but I really love them. This jazz album reminded me of those bygone days when my system was new.

That right speaker will be a massive problem tucked in that little corner there with hard surfaces all around it. Not an optimal setup, Fernando, but the room does present challenges given its layout. I typed the first part of this message just looking at the layout, but when I listened to the music, unfortunately, it sounds very forward in the mid-range the piano, almost piercings in that room. I accept this is a RU-vid audio stream but that's unlistenable to me.

Keep in mind you are hearing it over a mic uploaded to RU-vid. What you hear is not really representative of what I hear, take it with a grain of salt.

@SkyFiAudio Hi Fernando, Yes, I think I mentioned that in my first message, this is RU-vid and no representation of what things are really like, but that room scares me acoustically when I look at it. The piano track did sound very forward, though, but of course, you would know what you're doing.🎧🙂👍

I DO like the sound in my B&W PI5s bluetooth-streamed from my LG V60 ThinQ phone. I recommended the first gen Heresies to a friend back in the 80's who used them in a similarly spec'ed system with a Rotel integrated. He was very pleased.

True enough when it comes to power versus speakers however let me tell you in my experience something like the la scalas or K horns, while they can be powered with just 5 watts and that's truly all you need, they respond remarkably and I mean remarkably better when you get a couple hundred watts into them.

Terrific set up and video. I hear good things about this technics integrated . Would it be able drive the Forte IV’s adequately as well, in say a 400 sq ft room with 8ft ceilings? If not, would love to know what amp you recommend for the Forte IV’s in that application. 🙏🏼

Please do an all analogue system up next! I'm running an all analogue system (SL-1200G, SPL Phonos/Phonitor, Parasound A23+) and I'm looking for a secondary one. Oh and TBF... that room has way too much reverb... some acoustic panels at first reflections are required. At least opening the door helps a bit it seems!

Getting the sound you want is often trial and error. Or one can follow a strict budget and become accustomed to the sound you get. It's all a matter of priorities.

My understanding is that speakers should sit at ear height for the listening position. Your speakers sit on the floor - seems far too low. What's your thinking on that?

The Heresy's have an angled base to aim them up, it works pretty well.

Medium size speakers on the floor, imagine that! It seems audiosnobs always say put them up at ear level, even if they are speakers for the floor. People say JBL L55's should be brought up to ear level but mine sound fantastic on the floor.

The Heresys are designed as floor standers, as are your L55s.

@@deeplyclosetedindividual Yes, but I read online people saying they should be at ear level. When I bought mine that is exactly the way the previous owner had them. He had them up on a long heavy shelf and after I listened to them in that position I said let's try them on the floor. They sounded much, much better (To me) and I think he felt disappointed that I was buying them after he heard them on the floor. lol.

for the price of your system , you could have purchased a pair of ACTIVE ATC loudspeakers with active crossovers along with a digital front end .

Smaller ATC speakers that only go down to 80 hz would add the need for a subwoofer, or two. Sadly, his 12" woofer choice only gets down to 50 hz, and with those horns, not my choice either.

Definite some active speakers would be a simple solution. Klipsch makes a super sounding budget speaker - The Nines that would have been great for the room.

I would have ripped out that built in shelf and put in something that better fit the system and room unless you are renting. Also I'd lower the TV. Ideally the TV center should be at seated eye level.

Budget, yeah right. Budget is a complete system for 2000 / 3000 Dollars or euros. In the real world people cannot afford such luxury and the returns for so much outlay really Isnt that much.

Great video I use a technics suv5 amp B&W dm602s2 speakers, audio technica atlp120usb turntable onkyo cd player, Sony mdjs510 minidisc and denon tape deck and that is a excellent budget system, your system sounds superb I personally find technics is better sounding than macintosh and hegel ,I find technics is like yamaha they bring ýou as close to the recording as the artist intended, where as macintosh hegel I find they are incredibly processed sounding

It does sound better with the motorized shades down which works out great since I do most of the listening at night where the view doesn't matter. Curtains would be better but not the right look for the room.

Absolutely fantastic sounding system. My problem is I just don't care for Klipsch speakers. I could save the purchaser of this system a ton of money. Vintage Large or Smaller Advent speakers.

@@garth56 I'm not judging any speakers or systems based on a RU-vid video played through my phone. Since the late 1960's, I've listened to horned speakers in retail show rooms, I had a friend with speakers that had horns, and of course some live concerts. I can only say I've heard a variety of Klipsch, and a pair of JBL's that had horns. There's a that I can't name any other brands. I just don't like the sound they produce. When you don't like something you don't seek to test them out further. Obviously, there are many who do like them or they would have gone away long ago. I'm not saying they're bad, it's simply a matter of personal preference.

@@garth56 I don't think because I haven't listened to an $80000 pair of horned speakers that means I haven't really listened to speakers with horns. The speakers in this clip are what I'm responding to. I've heard them. And while I haven't heard a horn speaker that I like, I would enjoy the experience, but I'm not impressed by the $ sign a company attaches to their speakers. It's possible I would like the sound of the Tannoy, but it's price tag would not guarantee that.

Just one music loving a-holes opinion but have you tried your Heresys in front of the shelving at each extreme the way you'd have full access to your spare room and some toe in for better imaging from the speakers as they don't need to be so far apart well mine don’t anyways.. I have almost the same setup except for the amplifier, mine is a 10 watt tube integrated Luxman SQ-N150 and the sound is amazing!

Speed is off on the turntable--strobe does show it's running too fast. Also, the overall sound is a bit harsh and sterile.

i’d say for most that’s a lot of money, certainly not budget. you could start way lower. klipsch 600rm, a marantz pm6007, fluance or audio technica, blue ortofon.. whole thing would be 2000

Acoustically, it seems like you've already failed, at least in terms of getting the most out of what you have. For instance, your speakers are in too close proximity to the back wall, shelf, and window. You should try to get the front of the speaker at least 18 - 24 inches space from the wall. The fact you also have them next to a sidewall (window and shelf), is going to increase sound reflection of the bass, mids, and highs, causing a delay of these frequencies and muddled sound. But given the fact you are a hi-fi guy (I think?), you probably know this already. So clearly aesthetics are more important for some. Shame to invest that kind of money, and not reap the best from what you have. Given that room size, and you're incorrect speaker placement, you would have been better off with something more modest. Perhaps a $200 boombox.

Keep in mind this is a living room, not a listening room. I'm aware of proper speaker placement but have some severe limitations. Thanks for writing.
