Selena sang so good in both English and Spanish, the power and confidence and emotion in her voice is what is missing from alot of singers today. She is in the same caliber of Whitney Houston, Aretha, Celine, Gloria Estefan, Michael Jackson, ..unique and irreplaceable.
English is her native language and it’s crazy she sings great in Spanish but when speaking it she had trouble. That’s the crazy thing about the voice how it hides her American accent when When she sings in Spanish.

Just heard the original song for the first time, and this was in the recommended videos. Watching this I started grooving so hard, especially during that guitar solo, and then I just randomly broke out into tears. The world was robbed of a talent, and from the little I’ve read, a good person. RIP Selena.
I want you to imagine you've never heard of Selena y los Dinos and this is the first song you've ever heard from them. The energy she is putting out is so magnetic and fun! She was such an underrated performer. You can always tell when a live show is lit and this one was on fire!

"Set me free", "sad and free", whatever. When you're a queen, you can sing any lyrics you want. Personally, I think "Set me free" makes more sense, anyway.
The words are supposed to be "sad and free" because in the song she tells the guy to drop her off by herself. I think Martha Wash may have intended different words or she might just like the way "said I'm free" sounds cause it sounds like thats what she says when she performs the song now. Could also be a nod to her winning the court case...

I have no offense to her claiming her own identity as I think she should have rightfully so. We as black people do not want to claim' everyone. We have plenty of greats of our own that we are proud to call our own.

I find it funny how she sings "Set me free" which is the popular belief of what this song is called and what is actually said on that particular chorus line. But its really "Sad and Free." But its okay. Why? Because Selena is the Queen of Tejano.
