However what does piss me off is when these younger kids start getting a big head about it and think their special jist because they were named after someone big and thus in their head creating the delusion that they could somehow be bigger or if not as great as who they were named after. My point is qere proud of her for supporting selena were proud of all the songs shes sang in honor of Selena but when sel g. Starts thinkin she IS SELENA QUINTANILLA thats when ppl got a problem. To those saying that Selena Gomez shouldn't sing this because she doesnt know Spanish. From what I know she has a whole album in Spanish. She also understands it and I think she does speak it. But Selena Quintanilla herself didn't learn spanish until the early 90's. She learned to sing Spanish phonetically to resonate with Latino audience.

It's so great that she's doing a cover song from Selena. Q, in the honor of her memory. She speaks really good Spanish and looked up to Selena.Q as well being named after her.
I have nothing against Selena Gomez.. it’s just that Selena Gomez isn’t really considered a great singer. She uses autotune and her vocal range is very small with a soft and whispery sound to it. Selena Quintanilla had a powerful and projected voice, she didn’t have to force it when she sang. In conclusion, Her and Selena’s singing are the exact opposites.

While I think Selena Gomez is a positive role model for girls and that she above anybody else (yes even her ex) does her best to be an awesome human being, I find this to be utter bullshit. I remember when she first appeared and stressed that she was Italian and denied having Mexican blood until it was convenient.
Athenathe SheWolf She's never denied being Mexican at all. She's identified as Italian and Mexican OR Latina whenever asked. HER LAST NAME IS GOMEZ FOR GOODNESS SAKE. If she wanted to "hide" her Mexican heritage, she wouldn't have kept her Mexican father's last name! She has also openly sung and spoken in Spanish, which would make it impossible for her to pretend she's Italian over being Mexican. She grew up with her mother, so obviously any deepening knowledge of her Mexican heritage came when she was older and reconnected with her father again. so your comment is 2 years old but anyway, selena NEVER mentioned or maybe once, having an italian heritage. she mostly only speak about her mexican one because she only spoke spanish when she was a kid because of her grandma and then lost it because she moved away from her grandparents.
