If you're a parent of an Adult Dependent Child (as I am) or a parent of a child with additional needs you may feel the stress involved with leaving your child for any period of time. You may also feel the longing to get away for even an hour or two. It is so important to listen to the desire even if the time to be separate from your child is not yet.
In this video I share a weekend away from my adult dependent child. It is not easy for me to leave her. She does not like it either and yet we all understand the importance of these "experiments." They have become different over time... easier in some ways, heartbreaking in others. I always bring my self-care kit which includes my Doodle sketchbook.
Doodling and art journaling can be a lovely way to help us return to ourselves, our whole Self. In this video, Tandy and the girl illustrate my feelings. They kept me company as I explored the tough feelings of being away from home. The worry, the sad, and also the fun of being on an adventure with just my husband... all feelings welcome. Follow along and listen to your inner world. You may relate of simply enjoy the scenery of beautiful La Jolla, CA.
