Self-defense for One-hand Grab: CHAMPS Achievers Foundation 

A student enthusiastically demonstrates one possible approach to defending against being grabbed by the wrist.
CHAMPS Achievers Foundation has a 30-year history in Kansas City teaching martial arts and self-defense to children having special needs and their siblings. CHAMPS classes also serve as a service learning site for students in KU’s doctoral degree program in occupational therapy who learn these same skills alongside other participants while serving as role models and applying classroom principles in a real-world setting. KU faculty member Jeff Radel, Ph.D., is a volunteer instructor for CHAMPS and faculty liaison for service learning at this site.
