When we were booking our trip to Aruba, we knew we wanted to take a UTV tour, but were undecided on whether to take a guided tour or just rent one and venture out on our own.
We decided to head out on our own and see what we could get into and we’re glad we did. It was a blast!
Here’s our experience!

Great video! I’m really glad you experienced the friendly locals - trip #15 this November and I love how genuine and chill everybody is - really feels “ home away from home”

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, everyone we came across was super friendly and helpful. Wow, sounds like you’ve got some trips under your belt. What’s it like in November down there? Is the weather pretty consistent year round?
@jimray2281
@jimray2281 Год назад
Very consistent year round - late September can feel extra warm if the storms to the north take the breeze away. You were spot on with the sun intensity warnings - it can be tough!

@@jimray2281 yeah, I couldn’t keep enough sunblock on 😂. The island was actually shut down our 2nd day there for a tropical storm warning. There was some rain and a little bit of flooding, but it wasn’t too bad.

Thanks! It was a blast! We were on the fence about a guided tour vs. self guided and I’m glad we chose to go out on our own. I’d highly recommend getting the Arubiana, which is an offline GPS of the island. Would’ve saved a ton of time if we had it.

You had the right idea. To thoroughly enjoy Aruba rent a vehicle and drive to the various attractions yourself. That way, you're not on someone else's schedule. Take your time and enjoy. That's what we do every time we visit. The fun is in the journey. Even if there are a few hiccups along the way.
@familyvacay_dfw

That’s the way we were looking at it. Getting a little lost was actually part of the fun 😂 Do y’all visit Aruba often?

@@familyvacay_dfwSo far, we've been there 3 times. Look forward to going back someday, however, the wife seems to have other ideas, like going on a Mediterranean cruise to visit much of Europe. I'm not so keen on that, but then again "Happy wife, happy life" as they say. Sometimes we guys need to let them have their way. Aruba is more my thing.

@@mortimersnerd1348 😂 if my wife were twisting my arm to go on a Mediterranean cruise, I’d probably have to give in too lol. We’ve never seen that part of Europe, but it’s on the list. We had a blast in Aruba. Everywhere we’ve been in the Caribbean has been great.

@@familyvacay_dfw We've been to other islands also but none compare to Aruba. I feel safe there, the people are wonderfully accommodating, no one tries to sell trinkets to you on the beach, the pace is just right, and it's always warm and sunny. What more could you want? Even though it's a desert island, the environment is just so different from what we are used to here in Canada, I really dig it.

@@mortimersnerd1348 we were impressed by how safe the island felt also, and yes, everyone was super nice and helpful. We’ve been to other islands where parts of the island felt a little sketchy. That wasn’t the case in Aruba. Everyone made it a point to make us feel right at home.

Thanks so much! So glad we could help! The Arubiana offline GPS app would’ve been a HUGE time saver. I highly recommend downloading something like that while you have service. What else do y’all have planned while you’re there?

Enjoyed the video. How was it finding a place to fill up with fuel throughout the island? That would be one of my concerns if I did the same thing you did.

Thanks so much for watching! We rode around the island all day long and still had more than 1/4 of a tank at the end of the day. There were no gas stations on the north coast, but we had a full tank on that side of the island so it wasn’t an issue. There’s plenty of gas stations everywhere else. I would recommend keeping an eye out for a carwash for the end of the day if you’re wanting to get in the mud. I was told there were a few, but we didn’t see any so we just stayed as clean as we could to avoid a cleaning fee.

@FamilyVacay Do you remember if you had to bring the UTV back full and if so about how much did it cost you ? Thanks...
@familyvacay_dfw
@familyvacay_dfw Месяц назад
Yes, you do have to fill up the tank at the end of the day. I don’t remember exactly how much gas was in Aruba at the time, but a UTV has a much smaller gas tank than a car, so it wasn’t as much as filling up a car. Also, they mentioned a cleaning fee if it was too muddy at the end of the day. We brought it back with a little bit of mud on it, but they said it wasn’t too bad and didn’t charge us a cleaning fee. A guy that we came across along the way said that he was just going to hit a car wash on the way back, but we did not see any. Hope you have fun! We had a blast!

@@familyvacay_dfw Thanks for the reply. were you able to drive all day on just one tank? and do you know about how many miles you might have traveled?
@familyvacay_dfw
@familyvacay_dfw Месяц назад
@@martyjr540 Absolutely! Happy to help! Yes, we drove pretty consistently for about 8 hours on 1 tank. It was pretty low at the end of the day, but that was the only time we filled up. I don’t remember how many miles we drove, but the whole island of Aruba is about 75 square miles and we drove from the lighthouse at the north point of the island all the way down to Baby Beach on the south point and everywhere in between. As mentioned at the end of the video, I would highly recommend downloading an offline GPS while you still have service, like Arubiana or something similar. That would’ve saved a ton of time. There were some things that we wanted to see, but didn’t have enough time because we got lost using our paper map 😂. All of the locals that we talked to were super friendly and great about giving us directions, though.

@@WilDesAdventures thanks! I don’t remember needing proof of insurance. From what I was just reading, it looks like the companies that rent the carts out have their own insurance policies. I would definitely double check with them tho. Yes, they drop the utv off in the morning and pick it up at your hotel at the end of the day. I just subscribed to your channel.
