Very impressive design and construction. I wonder how he knew in advance that he needed to install angle iron to prevent any deflection in the window. I also wonder where he got the window and struts...
Thanks! The window had a hollow fiberglass frame which was sturdy for it's intended use but after picking up the window and weighing it, I knew it wouldn't be enough. I installed the 1st set of (cut down) angle iron in the video and then actually had to add another layer of angle iron (might be able to catch it in the end of the video) onsite after seeing it installed. It had a decent crown to it with only one set of angle iron. The struts and hardware I got online from McMaster-Carr.
I hope you are still replying to comments on your build. How did you go about getting the springs...I know McMaster Carr 's site has some diagram but they don't show exactly your setup. Do you remember how you calculated you extended and compressed dimensions. Can you share your process for picking a spring? Thank you
The window sash was ordered from the manufacturer of the rest of the windows in the house and the gas springs and hardware I got online from McMaster-Carr
Yea haha the main purpose was so people could serve their friends outside from the bar inside so hypothetically someone's usually outside to shut it, but I get your point.
