My guess is that without slats the cargo would form a trench along the whole length of the conveyor belt more or less immediately. Then it would be more difficult and maybe dangerous for the workers to get all the cargo out (sometimes they need to "help" the stones from the sides with the bar) as unloading would be less controlled.

Without those covers the conveyor belt will try to pull the whole mess at once and just get stuck.

@@quetafierrro8253There is no safety equipment in place to keep the worker from being mangled or crushed if he loses his balance and falls into the toe of the conveyor. He should have a safety harness attached to a tether. He is probably not wearing safety shoes, either.

There is someone bringing this up in every video. You are the reason why we have to have warnings printed on everything. If the world had to be subject to all the regulations to satisfy you, it would stop turning.
