You have to pull about 60 to 80 pounds to get that kind of speed out of a selfbow. If your shooting 10 grains a inch. And a full length arrow 🏹. No carbon
I disagree. I made a maple selfbow about a year ago and was getting 180-185 fps at 10gpp.. Unfortunately, the bow didn't last very long. But it was fast while it lasted.
look at the video description... it says he used a 522grain arrow which actually is just over 10gpp out of this 52pound bow. these are good speeds for a self bow. ive been able to get speeds like this as well. it is not imposible to do but is difficult. its a testiment to his skill to get these speeds with a self bow. congrats @@CloudfeatherRusticWorks
@superdav95 he posted this bow on the primitive bow building page, shooting these speeds with a light arrow. 7-8 gpp. I guess it's just a testament to the reliability of the bow that it shoots the same speed with a heavier arrow. 🤣
I have to try, so if I'm shooting my 80 pounder self bow I have to shoot 800 grain? Guys shoot 160 pounds with 6-7 grain per pound, and they do speed tests, if you shoot 1600 grain arrow, it's just to heavy and if I'm shooting my 20 pound self bow I should be shooting 200 grain? I live in Russia and never really heard of 10 grain per pound.
