I believe people should follow their dreams. If they follow their parent's dreams, I believe there's always resentment. As a parent, I want my kids happy. That's my dreams for them. My youngest is 28, he found his early. My 31 years old daughter is only just now following hers, it's great to see the passion in her eyes. My 35 years old son, made a decision at 29, and has been following his ever since. I can't be more proud.

Stop living someone else's dream. That's pretty much what it is here. As someone who grew up in a highly competitive and overachieving social circle with impossible standards that nobody could ever meet, I know how it is to be shamed for not going the traditional route. It's a very miserable and demoralizing place to be. The most ironic thing is that the people in that social circle who got off on shaming those who didn't get the high grades or whatever, never really accomplished much in their lives in the grand scheme of things. Goodness me, that's disgusting. The stench of hypocrisy ended up reeking rather pungent there.

His behavior may have been a little extreme. But he was lashing out because he was concerned for her working two jobs. He just wants what’s best for the people and not putting stress on themselves

Sara made the right choice leaving that law school of it wasn't making her happy and she followed her own dreams instead of following her dad's or others dreams. She also talked some sense into her brother for his rude behavior and teaching a lesson

Barista deserve better than to be humiliated by her ex-student, he was snobbish and selfish. Her history as music teacher was great yet she loved coffee. She's not worried about a daily job. Wished Teddy would be more humble and polite in his coming and going!!

I was in college with rich kids and one of the students was told to study medicine and he didn't want to. I heard him on the phone arguing with his parents about this and they told him if he didn't take pre-med courses they would not pay for his education.

"How could you do this to ME". That line pissed me off more than all of the rudeness he directed at his former music teacher. People think everything is about THEM. I so often see a parent upset with a decision a child makes for their life and they make it about THEM (in this case brother not parent) HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME when someone's life choices are different is one of the most disgustingly self absorbed attacks (its NOT a question, not even rhetorical, its flat out an ATTACK) possible in the English language.

Maybe Ted was just under a lot of stress due to the whole wedding planning thing and kind of took it out on his former teacher? Still not the right thing to do, but extreme stress can make a jerk out of anyone. At least he apologized.

I didn't go to uni except for a uni called university of real life. A piece of paper does not mean you will be successful. 80% of graduates never end up finding their dream job they either end up with odd jobs or having to work from ground up. Me on the other hand am more educated than any uni student not by academics but by street smarts. Like uni electives I chose to experience every job and let it find my calling.

I still call all my former teachers by their last name just out of respect even though I am an adult now and they're not my teacher anymore they're former teachers. If she still does not want to be called by her first name then that dude needs to respect it. Furthermore that was not okay that remark he made you should always treat others with love and respect and a lot of people work two jobs

Any parent who force his or her kid embrace his or her choice of career doesn't have none of my respect. As soon as my kids were on age to understand told.each one them that they can choose whatever they want to do in life as long as it's legal, don't hurt no one but also their conscience but mostly make them happy and good in their skin. Your kid cannot follow your dream. You'll have someone miserable their all life because of your selfishness..
