I've had some very good experiences using Hashashim (you said it right btw) in siege battles. Though few in number, they will clear off walls with ease. Janissaries are great imo. They're excellent attacking infantry, excelling in sieges, but still decent in pitched battles. Once I get access to Ottoman infantry, I start to replace all of my infantry with them. They're good in both shooting and melee. Can finish the enemy off with Janissaries afterward. Naphtha is the knock off, second rate, version of Greek Fire. Think of it this way: they're basically throwing napalm grenades. Si-pah-hee
He covered artillery on the England guide was his excuse for not covering other factions artillery. Even though England is missing alot of artillery other factions have access to.
Yeah, the turks have a unique siege unit. The Monster Bombard, so waying "Watch the England video" doesn't really cover that. It's an absolute unit of a cannon that'll flatten most buildings, but it takes an age to reload, so pretty much useless in an open field battle.
He also "forget" Serpentine, which is an France/HRE/Poland/Hungary/Danish exclusive artillery. He just don't look at the factions in details. Also, those factions guides are kinda useless- he just read numbers and compare them to other numbers and is only judging units on paper, like he said that the Gothic Knights are badass (they are worse than Teutonic Knights), Stradiots are bad... I don't really know why I am watching him!
Man, seriously, do you really play this game? Hashashim are not great (but still solid) on the open battlefield but in every other situation this is the best unit you can have - siege attack and defense, bridge battles, defending from a hill. Kick ass, worth every penny. The Moors don't really need them but for the Turks they are a great addition, especially against Mongols and Timurids. The thing to undertand is that you basically got twice the given number of men but fewer attacks so they will suffer if spread out and surrounded, but in any even slightly tight location, including a well packed line, they outperform any western knight.
I hate assaulting the walls and i never do it when playing a campaign unless i have hashashims. They absolutely destroy all other foot units as long as they are kept away from lancer charges and missile fire. They do great both on campaign and multiplayer(especially sieges)
gr8 m8 I r8 it 8 Couple of things though. You mentioned the BE and the Egyptians early on, but for me Venice and Sicily were a huge pain as well, right up until the Mogul invasion (they invaded north in Russia in my last game) and there was no mention of the Timurids.
Seems silly to comment on a 5 year old video, but there's 3 potential spawns for the Mongols. Russia, eastern Turkey, and Iraq. if they spawn in Iraq it's a lot more fun and scary.
Hate that, when using the Egyptians they destroy my Mamluk army with ease. I tried making temp forts at choke points to slow them down and whittle their numbers while targeting their generals with assassins. However even with all this then the Venetians or Germans go on crusade. What a headache.
Imagine getting an event during the Mongol invasion where the Seljuks collapse and various new emergent factions led by Beylik warlords rise. You get to choose which of these Beylliks you get to play on to replace the fallen Seljuks and of course one of these Beyliks is the Ottomans
i have been playing turks all the time but egypt russia and byzantine empire keep declaring war on me on VH/VH this helped me alot thx lugotorix love you
Had one of the most fun campaigns as the Turks. Long slog where I eventually destroyed both Mongos and Timurids. One funny aspect of the Turks is the fact that they have NO basic missile units you can build in cities. Eventually in big cities you can build Janissary archers, but that's way down the line and useless for smaller cities. I had to spam Turkish archers and other castle build troops to supplement cities. Javelin men and naphtha can be very useful manning walls by the way. At the Timurid assault of Baghdad I concentrated naphtha hurlers on the elephants they left up front. Elephants ran amok and proceeded to wipe out the entire Timurid army which was deployed down the road behind them. Very satisfying that.
Hi Lugo. I am playing a campaign with the Turks and I really enjoy them. You must explain some details about this faction that a lot of people don't know. For Example they are the only playable faction with monster bombard. This thing are a beast when you want to destroy walls. Also the Jannisaries units can only be trained in cities not castles.
Can You do Hungary Next Please? I don't know what to do at the start. Who should I attack...etc. Thanks in Advance. 😇 If you cover them can you cover the special merc because you didn't do it in this episode and the Venice one.
Hi thanks for the great video. I must say the Turks in the game are not Seljuk Turks; if we're talking about the cities that you own at the start, it is relatable but the troops are based on the Ottoman Empire. Especially Sipahis, Janisarries, Great Bombard and Qapukulu.
The faction does not have a "real" country name like England or France because it represents the various Turkish states. First they represent the Seljuks, and later on the Ottomans, so calling the faction "the Turks" just avoid the problem. France for example existed all the game timeline, but there wer not Ottomans in 1080 nor Seljuks in 1500.
Why do you call them _Seljuk_ when they are just _The Turks_ Is there some sort of cultural/regional reference? I dont hear you call any of the other total war factions some other name.
There are several Turkish empires during this period whose names are based upon their ruling families. The starting position corresponds to the relatively decentralised Seljuk Turks, but the inclusion of Ottoman Infantry and Janissaries indicates that CA (Creative Assembly) merged the Seljuk and Ottoman Turks into just one "The Turks".
Lacks heavy infantry early on.... huh, why would you want any foot soldiers anyway?? Aside from the necessity of taking cities, Why? The only unit you need in this game are horse archers, THE END. I dont even now why all the other units even bother being in the game??
ok, i don't know about online, never tried it?.... but at least online you wont be facing an enemy with massive bonus ammo? Anyway, i do admit i still use foot armies for holding bridges, and i prefer my AI controlled reinforcements to be pure cavalry - they just don't seem to understand how to use horse archers properly.... even though the enemy AI knows how to use them and they are the supreme annoying unit in the game, forcing me to quit and auto calc many, many battles where i was not able to achieve a better result than auto calc (because of enemy horse archers).
you have to defeat them in an another campaign to unlock them or you can fix some game files to unlock all factions,if you search on google you can easily do it
If you win the campaign, you unlock all playable factions. The only ones that are not available are Aztecs, Mongols, Timurids and The Papal States i think.
Turks are the most overpowered fraction. Why !? Normally when u will fight European armies u will face Knights that will destroy u in close combat. But !!!! The Turks have one big advantage. Make a line of any cheap Speer men’s u want. Behind that. javelin thrower and naffatun and archers behind that. Then u put the heat janitschars behind (if u have them) to go into battle if needed (they are effective against armor and will kill the knights. On the flanks u put heavy troops and archers on horses. The archers on horses just fire into the crowd and attack when they have no arrows anymore. And here comes the point. No matter how good the u it is ur cheap Speer troops will meet. They will destroy no matter which unit with the naffatun in their back. That is the purpose of the naffatun. With them in the back no unit can even stand against peasants. U don’t even need the high quality troops that much.
You can either: 1: Edit the game files (there are RU-vid videos showing how to unlock all factions). 2: Destroy them in-game to unlock them as a playable faction. 3: Win a campaign with anybody, which unlocks every faction in the game
No it is absolutely not. There are more settlements in Northern Europe and less settlements in Asia and Africa. You can also get Scotland and some parts of Americas while the Khazar/Caspian sea is almost completely gone. South Italy and and Mediterranean Islands suffered terribly from lack of economy and settlements. Also the game has lesser mountains and more small hills, so you will suffer in Campaign map if you try to defend Italian and Iberian peninsulas from Northern invasions. It has less wonder and unique sources.
