Robin Oloyede’s young son dreamed of being an astronaut, but after searching for products with Black astronauts to inspire him, Robin couldn’t find the representation she was looking for. Upset and hungry, Robin found herself in the kitchen staring into her empty plate, and eureka! Colorfull Plates was born. Robin designed the plate sets with the idea that a child would enjoy their meals while seeing images of themselves as they dream to become: astronauts, archaeologists, explorers and beyond. Soon after Robin started Colorfull Plates, her and her business parter and cousin Lechelle fell on hard times: the pandemic hit, and their manufacturer told them they were too small to continue doing business with. Combined with failed experiences with other paid vendors, the two entrepreneurs had had enough. They took a major step to grab a hold of their future: they joined Amazon, and focused on the resources of the Seller Central platform. Now, Colorfull Plates runs with the power of FBA, Seller University, A+ Content, the BBA, and much more. Robin says that Amazon has given Colorfull plates the stability that they need to grow.
