Dealer keeps saying it was a good car, but yet it broke down in days. When it didn’t start at dealership, she should’ve asked for money back and RAN away

Used car cases are always fun because we get to watch the plaintiff try and squirm and manipulate her story throughout the whole case to try and get her money back. She had no warranty other than the starter and she knew that but she changed her story a few times just like the wind blows. I like these kind of cases where we get to watch the plane of trying to wiggle their way into winning when there's no way under the law unless there is a warranty that she could win.

How do people spend money on a car without even test driving it?! Then have the nerve to whine

"As Is" means "As Is". Not "as long as nothing goes wrong" with the car. Always have it checked out before you sign on the dotted line.

I used to buy used cars without warranties when I was young and dumb but I never buy them without it now nor let my kids buy them without a warranty. My son went to buy a truck from Wendle Ford...I told him he needs to make sure he gets a good warranty. So he bought the 5 year warranty... He gets the truck and less than 24 hours later it is dead in a parking lot. It gets towed to the dealer and it is the transmission. The extended warranty company is already squaking because it isn't even over 24 hours before a complete transmissions is needed. This was during covid so parts were hard to find so it would have been almost 6 months they guesstimated before the parts. So they took the truck back and wiped the loan...He gets a different truck with same type of warranty and it was dead in our driveway. Couldn't jumpstart it...The dealer tried to say it was because of the remote starter which they didn't have the remote for...I got involved and told them too bad...I said one truck...OK maybe it was just the luck of the draw but 2 trucks dead less than 24 hours? Nah... My son put 5k down on each truck...Good thing he had 10k in bank because otherwise he would have had to wait until the paperwork cleared and they gave him his money back which was about 5 days since it was done through the bank direct payments. I told him he will never go there again...I will not let him...He can go anywhere else he wants...He couldn't find a truck in other places but he did get a car and put 5k down again...Had some issues and I think the dealer is a little shady but found out from the extended warranty place that it did not have to be repaired at the dealer...The dealer sent him to their other dealership to get it repaired...We found out it can go to any certified mechanic...Which is what we will do now after the vehicle went in for 2 problems. One they said was warranty and the other was not. They charged him the fee for hooking up to diagnostics machine on the non warranty side even though it found both problems and they would have had to do diagnostics on the warranty problem...They didn't even clear out the error light...I have a less fancy diagnostics machine and I hooked it up and cleared the error light...No more problems. For the fee of the diagnostics you would think they would click the clear errors...That is why we will never go back to the chevy dealer here...When we bought a used car we bought it from my wife's brother who liked 3 hours away but we knew we could trust him. And it has been 6 years and only one problem and it was covered under the warranty. It's your fault for not at least getting a 90 day warranty...

I am blessed enough to have a bunch of mechanics in my family! I would take at least one of them with me to pick out a really good car, & I wouldn't leave with a car without their affirmation!!!

Hands down for me was the latina couple who fought at the pool party and shorty was beating the dude's car with the 2x4 had him locked up and was self inflicting harm upon herself and trying to frame him

4:26 guess what? The check engine lights had already come on, they cleared the codes because they knew that someone that doesn’t know much about cars could be easily fooled. Once the cars computer reset itself after driving a few miles since the problem that triggered the check engine light in the first place wasn’t taken care of the check engine light came back on..

Didn’t test drive….bought it anyway….guy tried to fix it twice, even thought I think he is full of poo saying SES light is on because the coolant was low(omg)…but it’s a 2k car with over 100k miles. Plaintiff SOL.

Live and learn. When you purchase anything used, check it out as thoroughly as you can. Granted, problems can arise that even the owner knew nothing of, it happens. Bottom line, caveat emptor (I think I spelled that correctly).

If someone go to buy a1999 vehicle & it does not start because of something like a faulty starting motor, that does not necessarily mean that it is a bad car. The starting motor is a very basic part that could go bad any time on any vehicle of any age. You do not even have to buy a new one in every case. Many times it can be repaired very easily. So if I like a vehicle & it does not start because of CERTAIN issues, that will not deter me from buying it. You may be giving up a perfectly good vehicle because of a pretty basic problem. The 3 main areas on a car that you want to be working well & have no issues when you buy it, is the engine for certain, the transmission on automatic vehicles, & the computer if the vehicle has one. When you go to buy a car & there are any problems associated with those 3 areas, you need to run...& run fast. Anything else on MOST cars over 15 years old can be fixed easily at a relatively low price. In fact, you should expect to spend at least another $1000 in the next few months after buying the car to sort out any issues with other parts. No sense suing for those types of things. That is why the plaintiffs hardly ever win. The price of the parts on a car over a certain age SHOULD be reasonable, but you need to know a good mechanic that is reasonable, because installing the parts is where the cost will increase.

I've been saying for decades to never purchase used vehicles and or uses homes, apartments plus rent or roommates. People don't listen to me. Another case depicting why never to purchase used. Smh
