I did the same. Working in the hospital during the pan and bought some luxury bags. I have minimized my collection and would like to keep only 5 bags. Honestly, after the loss of my aunty I realized I don’t need all this extra stuff. So many of her items were left behind afterwards. All went to family. The good Lord knows we don’t need all this.
I 💜 all handbags, particularly luxury handbags. While I agree that overconsumption is a concern, I think ppl should do whatever, within reason, that makes them happy. Handbags make many of us handbag lover’s happy! So, I do not feel that everyone needs to sell the things that they already own and that makes them happy.
I don’t think luxury is dead but I think people are re-evaluating their luxury purchases and why they’re buying because of current inflation and luxury over price increases. I’m still buying luxury (recently shared some recently on my channel) but I’ll try to continue to only buy what I absolutely love and I’ll make sure it’s not buying to fill any void ;)
I’ve been selling bags for years…honestly, I consider it passing them on because I’ve gotten my use out of them…my thoughts…take your time, keep what you love, sale what you don’t reach for, and enjoy having luxury pieces regardless of inflation…as an economist prices will always rise but make your purchases at a price point that feels right for your income level
I feel like you should do what makes you happy! I’m from an era where Coach was the big thing. I still have my bags from the 90’s. I buy what I love and I’ve never sold anything. Now in my 50’s I’ve slowed down. I’d rather spend my money on travel. During the pandemic I purchased a lot of luxury so I’m good now! Great video TFS
I agree with you on the over saturation of the designer industry. And the design houses are fearless with the price increases! As a consumer I feel we must somehow take a stand and say enough is enough. The more we buy at the current price, the price goes up!
You are 💯 correct.. I pulled back and working on my addiction to it and also it’s become too expressive for what it is.. and the new collections they turning up is ridiculously expensive for no reason.🤦🏽♀️
I’m purging my bags soon. I’ve sold some items on The Real Real and gifted some items to my daughter. I only use a few bags over and over. The rest are in dust bags taking up space on a shelving unit I had to buy for storage. It’s ridiculous and I’m making myself get rid of everything I don’t need or use. It’s starting to feel like clutter and that bothers me.
Wether individuals know it or not(believe or not) their trying to fill GOD SIZED holes with things, food, drugs, sex, gossip, work, hate,people… we have made idols. You will never be satisfied until you find the purpose that God has put into you since the beginning. God’s purpose will STAND! GOD IS COMING FOR OUR IDOLS!
Excess material possessions do not enrich our lives. In fact, buying things we don’t need keeps us from experiencing some wonderful, life-giving benefits. We would be wise to realize the cause and become vigilant in overcoming it. I realize I don’t need ten black handbags, twelve pairs of black shoes . I was so brainwashed by social media. I have so much and I have to admit I have given two of my Louis Vuitton bags and sunglasses and a few of my Chanel bags away because I can’t wear all these purses , shoes . and clothes. Stepping away from luxury to protect my interest to survive

When I think of what I purchase I think about two things. What makes me say WOW!! And what people will mention when I’m dead. Lol there’s this bright red leather Marc Jacobs totes they just came out with that would be the perfect statement piece with all black outfits. I can see people saying he really loved that red bag he was always wearing. lol same with the Fendi baguette and the Chanel wallet on chain. That’s it’s for me 😂 one thing I will spend on is fragrances. My collection is my pride and joy and I have a will setup to explain how to sell them if whoever gets them desires they don’t want the burden.
Many reasons for the luxury purge IMO overconsumption is first and foremost. Then the price increases, trends and quality issues also play a role with selling. . In the case of a Price increase many can recoup the cost and in some case profit . On the opposite side of that spectrum is trends and quality were many will unload before that item looses value..
I always love handbags. I have only sold 1 Gucci bag because I never carried it and it was purchased on sale so you know that was a long time ago. The last couple handbags I have bought have been small luxury bags or clutches because the prices have increased so much. I usually purchase for special occasions such as birthday, Mother's Day or Christmas. You are correct the new bags are dropping so often now. I also notice they are not mass producing. So it may only be available for 1 year. I have told myself also I can't have everything. I have to be content with what I have and rotate my handbags. I'm not sure what people are purchasing or if they are just redirecting their money to other areas in their budget since the cost of everything is so expensive.
New to your channel! 👋🏾 I'm friendly with a self-made millionaire who is now caring for his ailing wife. In clearing out their possessions, he is realizing that many of the things that they have accumulated over the years are no longer important to them. This couple is wealthy and not hurting for money, but the husband now sees what is truly important in life... and it's not material things. I do have a large collection of contemporary-style handbags. My collection has cost me a lot of money.... money that I really should have added to my real investments. Anyway, I have sold one bag, but I don't intend on proactively selling more. I'm going to enjoy my collection because I really do have lovely bags, and I like them all! But going forward, my plan is to not purchase any more bags unless it's pre-loved and under C$100. Luxury bags in Canada are extremely expensive! One Chanel medium double flap in lambskin is now C$13,000! That one Chanel bag costs way more than my entire bag collection! First me, luxury handbags are never worth such a high expensive. That money will never be recovered on the resale market. If someone has thousands of dollars to spend, then the best choice is reasonable investing. Through my gentleman friend, I have learned that, in the end, it's never worth it to spend a lot of money on things that only bring you limited joy. ✌🏾
Luxury prices are out of sync with our current economy. So I think people are putting the breaks on new purchases. I have stopped shopping and enjoying what I have. ❤❤
