2 Gen Sports Cards sets up at their first card show: The May 18-19th Liberty Missouri Card Show. We show how we set up our table our most memorable deals and talk about what we learned through out the weekend. Football Cards. Card Shows.
Just watched your video. I would like to give you some honest feedback as I have been doing shows for over 30 years. Don`t give up on bargain boxes they pay the table fees and then some. In order for the boxes to sell they need a good value. Once you establish a few regulars that like your cards, they will sell well. Also make sure you put different cards in there from the previous show. I put 4 bargain boxes of about 1600 dollar cards and average 500 sold each show. I then lower the rest to 50cents and sell them somewhere else. You are right about people wanting to see the cards and not have to dig through the box. The National will be great for you and your son, Chicago is by far the best. You will find a ton of bargain boxes at the National and you will see cards for 25cents that you have for 2 or 3 dollars. Pick up tons of those 25cent cards and sell them for $1 Doing it 150 times makes it profitable. Thank you and I am subscribed. Enjoy this hobby with your son wishing you the best......
Thank you for the very thoughtful response to our video and the value boxes. Your input will really help us moving forward and we will use it to help us with our set up at our next show. I like your strategy of moving the $1 cards down to a cheaper box if they don't move and we will check out the value boxes at the National. Thanks for the sub!
Seeing stuff like this is awesome! My dad and I started setting up at smaller shows around 50-75 tables last summer. We have been doing one about every month since, and it is awesome to see others do it as well! Great job guys!
Thanks. We will definitely be setting up a more shows. I think we need to replenish our inventory a little bit before setting up again, but we are thinking 2-3 shows per year for us.
Great video. I agree with a lot of people that said don't necessarily overreact to things from any one specific show when it comes to the value boxes. But, on the other hand, never be afraid to try different things and see what works well. A little trial and error can be beneficial. Anyway, I hope you keep making videos like this and have a great time at the National!
Loved the video! Was awesome to see what the experience is like at a first time show but also a smaller show. I'm starting to buy and sell magic the gathering cards myself and have been excited at the idea of doing a smaller show like the one you did just to get some experience. Unfortunately my son is only 3 so not old enough to join in, but love to see the fun you guys had doing this. I'm hoping to do that with my son down the road!
Popped up on my feed. Nice video guys! I know it took some time editing the video and putting up the sales data screens, so definitely appreciated that and the running Profit number screen may be what sets you guys videos apart as I have not seen anyone else do that, so kudos! One comment I have is to not take what you learned in this show as gospel, because quite simply, it is a small sampling ie., one show lol. For instance, my first show I did, I sold the heck out of my Value boxes literally always had someone looking thru them the entire day. So the next show I did, which wasa much larger show, I quadrupled up on those boxes, only to have the result that they were mostly ignored in that show. There just was no rhyme nor reason. I've done about 25 shows now and what I can tell you is that everything I thought during those first 5 shows were completely different than what I think now. I just needed a larger sampling to start seeing the true trends, what sells, what doesn't etc.
Great video and I can see the amount of time you put into making it! One suggestion: keep the value box, but have it $1-$10 range. Also, it’s almost better to have it unorganized because then people can quickly see that you might not spend a whole lot of time checking comps and things. Then, they may be inclined to look through it in case they find a really good deal. Couldn’t tell from the video, but make sure most of the cards are in top loaders as well. People want cards in good condition, and for eye appeal as well. Great job overall!
Thank you for taking the time to provide great recommendations on how we can be more successful with the value boxes. We will definitely have a different approach next time. I do agree with you that having it more unorganized will promote more people looking through it. Thanks again for the input and thank you for checking out our video. We appreciate it!
This is great advice! I think one of the reasons people like value boxes is the mystery of whats in the boxes. So I would get rid of the organization by players and just mix it up. Have some organization like maybe separate by sport but other than that, just throw the cards in there and I think you’ll be surprised. Great video!
this is so cool. I recently got into collecting and brought my kids into it! We haven't really sold anything yet but I would love to experience with my kids! I cant wait to show them this video! Congrats guys!
Not trying to be “that guy” but I guess there was a reason this show came across to me, if your son ever needs a PSA 10 Select Tri-Color Die-Cut of Rookie Justin Jefferson or wants to trade, hit me up, I have this listed in my Mercari!
Thanks for the content. Mostly agree aside from the value box argument. Agree that you should not spend a lot of time organizing them. But disagree on the need for them. If your boxes truly have value then they can be a great profit center. Don't do anything < $1 but have cards for $1 that have a market price of $2-$10
Thanks for sharing. I think I was just frustrated at the amount of time I spent on setting it up and didn't see a lot of people look through it, but I like digging through value boxes myself. I appreciate the thoughts on how we can better set up value boxes and we will definitely try a different approach in the future.
Liked and subscribed cause Max has great taste wearing my football team shirt if you have a PO Box let me know I will send him some Liverpool football cards
