@@bgill7475 can't really write off gifts as a business expense. If I spend $1000 on a laptop and sell it for $2000 in my laptop store, the $1000 can be written off. If I buy a laptop for $1000 and give it away, I can't write off the $1000. 2 reasons should be pretty obvious to you. 1. He doesn't have a store, or permit to sell laptops where he did. There is no legal sale. 2. You would literally be able to buy anything and give it to your friend, then write it off as a tax expense. It doesn't work like that, sadly.
