Yes probably. Question is: is worth the cost to repair it. It's just an old ligature. Not like its a Rolex or something. And anyone with the skill to do the repair would certainly charge hansomely for their work. I'll save my money for refacing - which is also very expensive these days.
I've shaped a few 404's myself to fit links Andy. A small rectangular shaped piece of nylon or jabroc about the size of a pack of playing cards between the hammer and the ligature gives a nice spread of impact giving consistent form and won't damage the metal of the ligature or mouthpiece if you need to do this again. But of course hat means you need to clamp the Mouthiee and ligature somehow so its held. I had a black and decker workmate.
