Bella música, muy bien interpretada, que aspira a la excelencia. Muy buena también la nota ilustrativa sobre el gran Claudio Monteverdi. ¡Gracias y bravo!!!
Stunningly beautiful and majestic. I feel the same awe when listening to the amazing duet Andrey Nemzer and Charlene Canty singing CANTICUM FRATRIS SOLIS. Such humility and inspiration!

I agreed with baxter5431 not only in Catholic or any other official religion. I think Music is spirituallity in itself an the great Master of all times brought us a vision of God and of the Inner Light we have, that is far beyond words and philosophy, - as Beethoven pointed out

The entry on Monteverdi in the first edition of Ernst Ludwig Gerber's *Historisch-biographisches Lexicon der Tonkunstler* (1790) ... begins by calling Monteverdi 'the Mozart of his time'.
no the "Selva Morale e Spirituale" is a later and huge collection of compositions. It dates from 1640/41 while the Vesper is from 1610, but it's a collection of sacred music written by Monteverd from 1613 to the end of is life. I'm not even sure that the "toccata" here included is really included in the "Selva Morale" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selva_morale_e_spirituale here's something more :)
The opening Domine ad adjuvandum IS from the Vespro della Beata Vergine. And many of the works in Seva morale are destined for Vespers. This concert is built like a Vespers sevice without the plainchant parts: Antiphons, Capitulum. Invitatorium (Domine adjuvandum, withot the plainchant Deus in adjutorium), 5 psalms, a hymn and Magnificat.
@@pannonia77 many of the works included in Selva come from Vesper. the Vesper precedes the Selva (it's almost 30 years earlier) that's basically a collection of works - so I wouldn't call them destined for Vesper... :)
@@emilianoturazzi I don't understand what you mean. Perhaps I was not quite clear, either. (English is not the native tongue of any of us ...) The Vesper is an important liturgical event (at sunset) which consists of 5 psalms with antiphons, a hymn and the Magnificat. As to which psalms are to be sung depends on the feast. So Monteverdi's large-scale psalm settings found in the Selva morale were most probably intended to be performed at Vespers service at St. Mark's in Venice. The Vespro della Beata Vergine also contains 5 psalms, a hymn and a Magnificat for a feast of the Virgin Mary. But when I talked about "Vesper", I meant the liturgical event, not the "Vespro della Beata Vergine".
Kamera-Regie. Hektik pur! Nur zum Wegsehen geeignet! Sehr schade! (Vergleiche dazu Marienvesper in einer Aufnahme mit J.E. Gardener bei You Tube)
